Struggling with flyaways or tangled locks? Irish weather isn’t great for problem hair, so here are our four tips to help you keep your gruaig in check.

Last week, we shared our tips for saving your skin from dehydration this winter. The change in the seasons can also wreak havoc on another thing: your hair. Blustery winds, rain downpours, and icy weather can leave for hair that is dry, tangled, and problematic. If you struggle with this, not to worry! Our insider tips and holy grail products will help you tame even the most chaotic of manes.

1. Less of the heat!

It’s known that excessive use of heat can be damaging for your hair. Try to cut down on the amount of times you reach for the hairdryer or GHDs, taking breaks in between days. Let your hair dry naturally, tying it back with a scrunchie to prevent kinks. If you still can’t resist the sleek look of heat-styled hair, consider investing in a L’Oreal Steampod, which cleverly uses steam to hydrate hair instead of burn it.

2. Treat yourself with a hair mask

Sometimes we all need a bit of TLC, and the same goes for your locks. If your hair is looking a bit dull, have a much-needed pampering session with a luxurious mask. The Garnier Ultimate Blends Hair Food Banana 3-in-1 mask is a gem for treating hair prone to breakage and, with the scent resembling childhood banana sweets, it will give you a nostalgic blast from the past. We also love the Lush H’Suan Wen Hua mask, which features moisturizing avocado and shine-promising balsamic vinegar.

3. Lock in moisture with a deep conditioner

If your usual conditioner isn’t treating your hair the way you want it to, shake up your hair routine by applying a deep conditioner two or three times a week. The L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil Rapid Reviver Dry Hair Power Conditioner treats split ends and weakened hair by focusing on the bottom few centimeters of your hair that other conditioners can forget.

4. Heal split ends with a serum

Finally, add some daily nourishment into your haircare routine by incorporating a serum. The Green Angel Seaweed Conditioning Serum is a treat for tired hair which beautifully blends Irish marine extracts with healing essential oils. For a more heavy-duty option we recommend Redken Extreme Anti-Snap, which has the double benefit of sealing split ends and smelling like a summer holiday. A perfect pick-me-up for those dark winter mornings!
