Almost 100,000 people signed up to the wait list for the latest innovation from the Boots skincare line, No7 Advanced Retinol 1.5% Complex Night Concentrate
The latest skincare launch from No7 is causing quite the commotion, with almost 100,000 people signing up to the wait list. No7, the number one skincare brand of Boots, is known for its innovative skincare products. It’s range of serums target key skincare concerns for customers and are backed with scientific research and clinical trials, and this latest launch is no different. The new No7 Advanced Retinol 1.5% Complex Night Concentrate launches on Thursday, 28th May. Here’s everything to know about the new serum.
It balances the key ingredient of retinol for minimum irritation:
If you’re a fan of skincare, you’ve heard of retinol – the super ingredient that basically gives your skin cells an upgrade for visibly renewed skin. Retinol is a form of Vitamin A, which can do wonders for signs of ageing in skin and overall skin health by increasing the production of collagen and renewing skin cells, but it is a very sensitive ingredient. The thing to know about retinol is that too much of it in the skin causes irritation. It’s all about getting the amount right, and using it correctly, to see the best results.
The new serum from No7 answers consumers’ demand for the wonder ingredient but with an innovative new complex that gives “maximum results with minimum irritation”, according to No7 scientist Dr Mike Bell, who has been working on retinol for 25 years. “Retinol absorbs quickly into the skin, so the trick is to make sure it has a controlled delivery so that the skin doesn’t get it too quickly and become irritated,” says Dr Bell.
This product has 0.3% pure retinol within its 1.5% Complex, which is a “supercharged cocktail” of peptides and retinol. To find this perfect mix, No7 carried out multiple trials and found this blend to be the best at delivering the most effective results with minimal irritation. Throughout clinical trials on women aged 45 to 65 over 12 weeks, scientists found that 90% of women were happy with the results while saying it was comfortable on their skin.
As well as the pure retinol, the serum also has Bisabolol, a skin calming ingredient to help soothe and reduce irritation caused by the retinol, and Matrixyl 3000 Plus™ – a powerful peptide blend which helps to improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles over time.
It needs to be used correctly:
Due to the very active nature of retinol, how you use it is important. With this new serum, it is to be used at nighttime – twice a week at first and then building up gradually over time to nightly use. “It should take four weeks to get to nightly use,” says Dr Bell, “some people will be more sensitive – you have to build it up over time and listen to your skin.” No7 advises for it to be used with a good night cream, and during the day ensure to protect the skin with a good SPF.
It’s affordable:
Due to the wonder-ingredient but sensitive nature of retinol, cosmetic products containing it can sometimes be on the higher end of the price spectrum. However, the new No7 Advanced Retinol 1.5% Complex Night Concentrate is just €36 (30ml). And for a limited time, from the launch date on Thursday 28th May, there’s an introductory offer of €25 until 30 June 2020. Available in Boots stores nationwide and on boots.ie.
