This weekend isn’t a long one, but it can still be a fun one
Here are the events that you won’t want to miss this weekend, from sweet treats to the perfect yoga reset for the week ahead.
Shop till you bop
If you fancy a bop and a bargain, head to Dublin’s Workman’s Club on Saturday for the Useless Project Disco Flea. Sip on a creamy pint or fizzy cocktail while you shop secondhand and vintage clothing, all whilst having a dance. There’s tunes from 12pm and a rental try-on room with Happy Days. With free entry and lots to shop, what’s not to love?

Down south
In Cork, there’s plenty of culture to be had, with BOTANICA, The Art of Plants on display in the Crawford Art Gallery. Running from spring to autumn, this exhibition touches on the histories of plant collecting – and ethical questions of colonialism that arise from it – and considers the place of gardening, the hidden meanings of flowers, and the medicinal applications of plants, and more. The gallery is free to enter and the café is the ideal post-art treat.
Also in Cork, the Cork World Book Festival has been running all week, with a range of great literary events each weekend. Find out how publishing works, pitch the first page of your novel, or chat with Edel Coffey. It’s all happening across the city until Sunday. See a full list of events here.
Tipsy trifle
At the Roe & Co distillery in Dublin’s Liberties, the latest food+cocktail pairing is here. Pastry chef Karen Smith presents a whiskey and dessert tasting menu all weekend. The latest D-8TE offering consists of starters, mains and desserts that are all sweet treats. The menu showcases the best of Irish produce, all brought together by Karen’s deft design and expertise. Alongside the set menus, guests will also have the opportunity to explore specially curated Roe & Co whiskey cocktail pairings at €35 per person. Book your spot here.
Stretch at sea
In Galway, you can reeeeally connect with the natural world this weekend, with Yoga by the Ocean with Yoga with Misha. There are sessions at 9am on both Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are €12, with classes at the Diving Tower in Salthill and all levels are welcome. Just bring a yoga matt, and if you’re feeling brave, bring your togs for a dip in the sea afterwards.
