Started in 2005, Culture Night was created to celebrate culture, music, and the arts in Ireland. Fourteen years later, the event is thriving and bigger than ever. On Friday 20th September, venues all across Ireland will open their doors to the public in a series of inspirational and educational late-night events.

Local, free events that support Irish artists – what better way to spend a Friday night? To make things easier, we’ve compiled a list of our top events in taking place in Dublin, Galway, Limerick, and Dublin to give you a taster of what’s on. Gather some friends or family and show your support!
Dublin
- Atelier Maser
Dublin natives will recognise Maser’s bold street art pieces, particularly Camden’s Street iconic “You Are Alive” mural. From 4pm-10pm, the artist’s studio will be open to the public, showcasing an incredible array of world-renowned street artists. - 14 Henrietta Street
Taking place in a historic Georgian building, Float Down The Liffey will comprise of live music and a film screening. It will be a treat for the senses with a live electronica score of bass, percussion and organs. Performances are at 6pm and 7.45pm and are first come, first serve, so get down early to secure your place! - Desire: A Revision From the 20th Century to the Digital Age at IMMA
Partnering with Kildare Village, IMMA’s new exhibition opens to the public tomorrow, Saturday 21 September, and boasts an impressive list of international artists. The exhibition explores the role of desire in art and life and features famed artists such as Marcel Duchamp, Tracey Emin, and more.
Galway
- The Neighbourhood at Coffeewerk and Press
Coffeewerk have a jam-packed schedule for Culture Night. Speakers will discuss community and creativity and local artists will perform some fantastic music. Call down to the cafe between 6.30pm and 9.30pm to nurture your brain and soul. - Strange Brew Showcase at Róisín Dubh
Galway’s iconic bar and event space will host the record label in a showcase of some of the city’s most exciting talent. The intimate show will take place from 8pm to 11.30pm. - Féasta & Fáilte, All Saints Heritage Centre
A gathering of family and friends awaits in the All Saints Heritage Centre where guests will share food, ceol & comhrá. Guests are encouraged to bring along a ‘féasta beag’: your favourite recipe from any corner of the world. If you want to brush up on your Gaeilge, this event will be great for you. From 6-9pm.
Limerick
- Limerick School of Art and Design
The art college open its doors from 6-9pm on Culture Night, showcasing workshop themed fashion displays, digital portrait workshops, and music technology demonstrations. If that wasn’t enough, they will also be showcasing short films. Be sure to pop down and support the array of young talent the city has to offer. - Charlie Malone’s Pub
Artist David Idioh will showcase a mix of Irish and African sound in a performance featuring music from his album ‘Woven’. The show is guaranteed to be a treat for the eyes and ears and shows the beautiful diversity of the Limerick music scene. From 7-8pm. - Limerick Jazz Big Band
A very cultured way to start the weekend! Head down to Dolan’s from 5-7pm to enjoy some music that’s sure to get you moving.
Cork
- Bosco’s Secret Garden at Cork County Hall
From 4pm-10pm, the venue will be providing a range of events: from short film screenings, to contemporary dance performances, to workshops. Family friendly and diverse, this is guaranteed to showcase some serious talent. - Cork Film Centre
The centre will be opening its doors to the public in this evening event, showcasing analogue photography and numerous short films made by local young artists. Head down from 6-8.30pm for some inspiration. - Rising Sons Brewery
The perfect Friday evening wind-down! Esteemed brewers Rising Sons will be giving a behind-the-scenes tour of the brewery process. The event will also feature a guided complimentary tasting of their award-winning beers – what more could you want?
