Recipe: Walnut bread

Mix up your regular brown bread recipe with a few choice ingredients that introduce a whole new flavour

This tasty recipe from Inchydoney Lodge & Spa brings a delicious new angle to an Irish household staple.

Ingredients:

8oz plain flour

8oz extra coarse wholemeal flour

2oz jumbo porridge oats

1 tsp salt

2oz sugar

3 tsp baking powder

1 ½ bread soda

1 whole egg

600ml milk approx

2 handfuls of walnuts

100ml black treacle

ADVERTISEMENT

Method:

• Mix all of the dry ingredients together

• Whisk milk and eggs together

• Add milk, eggs, walnuts and treacle to dry mix and mix well

• Grease your tin lightly and line the bottom of the tin with parchment  paper

• Place the mixture into the tin

• Bake in a pre-heated oven at 160°C for approximately 50 minutes

• Turn out on to a wire rack to cool

• Enjoy!
