Intuitive life coach and motivational speaker Georgie Durcan’s advice for a happier, calmer and more fulfilling year
Spring is finally in the air and if you’ve felt stuck for the last few months, now is a great time to reassess your goals and shake off any doubts that have crept into your mind.
Just because you didn’t start your ‘new routine’ or ‘healthy habits’ in January doesn’t mean you should forget about them. But is finding the motivation you need easier said than done?
Georgie Durcan is an ICF-qualified life coach and motivational speaker, Chopra-certified meditation teacher, Yoga Alliance RYT instructor, Reiki Master, and EFT practitioner who integrates mind, body, and soul therapies for transformative coaching.
“Spring is a feeling – a sense of something new approaching, a lift in energy,” she says. “Our bodies feel more prepared for the day, and we are motivated to move forward.
“If we harness this shift in energy as the days brighten and nature awakens, we can align ourselves with the transition from winter to spring, leading us towards inner peace and joy.”
Here, she shares her advice for using the power of the Spring season to live the life you’ve always wanted:
We are awakening
We are emerging from our cocoon, feeling mentally, physically, and emotionally lifted. Now is the perfect time to reflect on the year ahead—what we want to change, welcome, or let go of. With more energy, we can connect with our inner truth, desires, visions, and goals.
Embrace this new spring energy. Take a moment to listen to yourself and ask what you truly want.
Carve out time in your diary, sit with pen and paper, light a candle, and create space for yourself and your dreams. It is important—so it deserves dedicated time, just like anything else in your schedule. If you do not plan for it, it will not happen!
Look forward to this moment. It is an opportunity to reflect on the past year and start envisioning the year ahead—feeling excited about what you can manifest and experience.
Write down:
- What you learnt in 2024
- The challenges you overcame
- What you are proud of
- What you could have done differently
- What you want to let go of
- What you want to focus on for the next three months
- What you want to feel more of this year
- What daily actions will create the feelings you want
- What actions each day, week, and month will move you towards your goals—schedule them in your diary

Mindfulness
Take time this spring to gain clarity on what is important—your goals, things you want to let go of, or feelings you want to cultivate.
As you go through your days, remain mindful of your list. When making decisions, ask yourself: Does this align with what is important to me? Does it align with my goals? Does it move me closer or further away?
This is mindfulness in action—being aware of your choices and ensuring your body, mind, and soul are aligned.
Be present and notice the changes around you. Observe how the air feels different, how your body and energy shift, and how nature begins to bloom. Take it all in and embrace the newness.
Decluttering
Spring cleaning is not just about tidying—it is about cleansing, shedding what no longer serves you. According to the Chinese calendar, this is the Year of the Snake—a year of transformation, shedding old skin to make way for the new.
This spring is the perfect time to make space for abundance, opportunities, experiences, and fresh starts. But to welcome the new, you must create room. You cannot ask the universe for more when your life is already overflowing!
We feel lighter—emotionally and physically—when we let go of things that take up space but no longer bring us joy. So, do a spring cleanse in every aspect of your life.
Emotional Declutter: Let go by forgiving the past and yourself. Forgiveness is the fastest way to release old emotions. Even saying, “I am willing to forgive,” can create a powerful shift.
Light a candle to welcome in light and repeat:
“I am willing to forgive the past, myself, and others. Anything I carry as a burden, I release now.”

Physical Declutter: Go through each room in your house. Take an overall look—if anything immediately stands out as something to let go of, put it aside. Do not question your gut reaction—trust it and let it go.
Clear out old clothes that no longer feel like you. Declutter your surroundings, and you will feel lighter.
Mental Declutter: A constantly thinking mind becomes cluttered and overwhelmed. Just as you cleanse your body daily, your mind needs cleansing too.
A few minutes of meditation—sitting in silence and focusing on your breath—acts as a mental cleanse. Any form of meditation, or even just a few minutes of quiet with no external distractions, can help clear your mind.
Writing lists can also help. Jotting down ideas, tasks, or thoughts clears space in your mind. Writing down limiting beliefs or negative thoughts is a powerful form of decluttering—once they are in your awareness, they lose their power, making room for more positive thoughts and beliefs.
