Fertility can be a challenging subject to discuss and this podcast by ReproMed aims to normalise those conversations
In partnership with ReproMed
The new series of the hugely informative Fertility Matters podcast will see broadcaster Rebecca Horan host four new episodes which will focus on some key areas within the fertility landscape. The episodes will discuss real life stories with patients and get valuable insights from the doctors and nurses who bring hope to so many wanting a family of their own. The series will address a number of fertility issues including unexplained infertility and secondary infertility and will help answer the questions of women and couples who are thinking about embarking on their own fertility journey. Fertility can be a challenging subject to discuss and this podcast aims to normalise those conversations.
On the Fertility Matters Podcast, Rebecca chats to Dr Ehab Abu Marar one of ReproMed Galway’s newest consultants about some of the key things you need to know along your fertility journey and also hears some heartfelt and positive fertility stories from Hilary and Andriana.
Hilary & Eanan
At 28 and 32 with over two years trying to conceive, Hillary and her husband, Eanan, were referred to ReproMed in Galway by her GP in the summer of 2018 when her AMH came back normal. After the usual testing, the couple were diagnosed with unexplained infertility. Unexplained infertility is when there is no underlying cause for the inability to conceive and it can affect as many as one in three couples who are having problems conceiving.
They did three rounds of fertility treatments between October 2018 and February 2019 and on the third try they received a positive result! Their gorgeous boy, Ayra was born happy and healthy at 39 weeks.
Andriana & Leigh
Andriana had both her fallopian tubes removed so she always knew she would need IVF. Herself and her partner Leigh proceeded with an egg retrieval and in the end had six embyros. Sadly, the first three embryo transfers didn’t make it and the couple decided to take a break, get engaged and try again. However, there was more heartache for the couple as the 4th embryo didn’t survive the thawing, so it was straight on to their 5th and second last embryo.
After two very worrying weeks, Andriana and Leigh had a successful transfer and they were pregnant with their first child. They now have a beautiful little baby girl, Ryleigh, who is nearly 7 months old.
