Don’t miss Voices of Ireland, a two-part music and literary documentary series hosted by Imelda May

Imelda May

Imelda May is to host a new Sky series celebrating Ireland’s most famous novelists, poets and playwrights, paying homage to the literature, scenery and music that has shaped our culture.

Touring Ireland, Imelda will be joined on Voices of Ireland by contemporary creatives as the greats works of Yeats, Beckett, Wilde and Kavanagh will be recreated and reimagined for a new audience.

Imelda will take audiences through familiar settings they have seen in their mind’s eye many times, from the stoney soil of Monaghan, the leafy walks near Raglan Road, Grafton Street on a busy Friday evening, and the bee-loud glade in Innisfree.

Performances will include recitations by Oscar-nominated actor Stephen Rea, author Colm Toíbín and playwright Emmet Kirwan, and music from Moya Brennan, Sharon Shannon, Loah, and Pillow Queens.

The Sky Original series, produced by Tourism Ireland, Sky and Red Shoe Productions, will premiere on Sky Arts and NOW on 14 December.
