When the sun is shining and the days are long, going into a loud and sweaty gym is often the last thing you feel like doing.

But it’s important to keep fit and active so why not do a home workout instead?

Irish fitness influencer and entrepreneur Maeve Madden is the self-professed ‘Queen of Home Workouts’ and wants to prove that working out from your house is a great option for anyone who doesn’t have the funds or the time for a gym membership.

Maeve said: “Home workouts are life for me because it’s zero commute, all comfort, no gym crowd, no traffic. There’s no waiting for the leg press machine or being self conscious. Just you, your mat, and maybe your dog judging your burpees!”

Here are her top five ways for making the most of your home workout:

1. Make it enjoyable

“Follow a fun plan whether it’s a Queens Don’t Quit Challenge or a progressive programme. Always make sure to follow a plan you enjoy.”

2. Put it in your diary

“Schedule that sweat sesh like it’s a hot date because it kind of is with your future snatched self! Pop it in your calendar and make it non-negotiable.”

3. Work hard, but rest like royalty

“Set realistic weekly goals – if you don’t have time for four workouts then don’t aim for four. We always want to be winning!”

4. Keep it short and spicy

30 mins of focused movement is better than 90 mins of scrolling in squats. Quality over quantity, always, and mix it up. Switch between strength, Pilates, HIIT, stretch days – keep it fun, keep your body guessing, and bye bye boredom!”

5. Hydration Station

“I don’t just sip – I hydrate like a queen. I take an O.R.S hydration tablet before and after my workouts because a glowing, energised body starts from the inside. Staying hydrated = staying powerful.”

And when it comes to the first meal of the day, the 38-year-old is all about keeping it real with a healthy balance of fibre and protein for the majority of the week and a special treat at the weekend.

Maeve’s top 3 breakfasts

1. My famous protein power bowl: Packed with Greek yogurt, lots of fruit for fibre, flax seed, chia seed and honey. I eat this almost every day.

2. Jumbo omelette: Two eggs, 150ml egg white, feta cheese and spinach with a side bowl of raspberries. This is one of my favourites when I have a little more time to prep breakfast in the morning.

3. Weekend almond croissant: Nothing I love more than a weekend breakfast tradition and it’s always been a trip to the pastry shop with my husband for fresh baked croissants and delicious coffee.

Maeve is the official brand ambassador for O.R.S Hydration – a trusted name in fast, proven hydration.
