Guaranteed Irish Business Awards celebrate 50th anniversary in style

On Thursday, 21 March at The RDS, the third annual Guaranteed Irish Business Awards celebrated 50 years of supporting leading businesses that are committed to local communities and contribute to Ireland, its people, and its economy. Winners were announced at a Gala dinner in the RDS where 400 people enjoyed networking and celebrating their achievements over the past year.

Picking up the Guaranteed Irish Business of the Year award was Glenisk, who employ over 80 people across Ireland and contribute so generously to their community. The Guaranteed Irish Special Recognition Award for 2024 went to Dr. Maire Geoghegan-Quinn. Brid O’Connell, CEO Guaranteed Irish, said: “What a start to the year we have had, we have launched a Guaranteed Irish stamp and a new advertising campaign, “The Guarantee of Guaranteed Irish”, and we close out Q1 with this Gala event to celebrate with our members and to acknowledge the 50 years of Guaranteed Irish.”

Netflix commissions new TV series from Lisa McGee

Derry Girls writer Lisa McGee is set to have another hit on her hands with her latest project How To Get To Heaven From Belfast. The new show follows the lives of three women and examines the themes of friendship, memory and what happens when life doesn’t turn out quite like you’d expected. The eight part series will start filming this summer and is being produced by Hat Trick Productions for Netflix.

Independent Galway restaurant crowned ‘Best of Ireland’ at 10th annual Just Eat Awards 

Galway restaurant Birdhouse was selected as Ireland’s best by pop up chef Nico Reynolds, TV chef and cookery tutor Erica Drum and restaurateur and author JP McMahon, who were enlisted by Just Eat to judge the ‘Best of Ireland’ category this year. Nico, JP, and Erica sampled a selection of dishes from each of the category finalists before declaring the winner, including Birdhouse’s signature dish, the ‘Tendie Dawg’, which is the restaurant’s unique take on the classic Irish chicken fillet roll. Visit just-eat.ie.
