The Snug combines art and Guinness in the heart of Dublin 8

If there’s anything we’ve missed over the past year and a half, it’s a cosy pub snug! Thanks to Hen’s Teeth and Fatti Burke, we can have a side of art with a pint of the black stuff.  The Snug is an immersive installation celebrating the beating heart of the iconic Irish pub, in partnership with Guinness. It opened on July 29th and runs until August 15th.

In Dublin 8’s Hen’s Teeth gallery, illustrator Fatti has designed a cosy pub snug. Her art covers everything from the walls to the coasters, and her playful style dominates. You can peruse the memorabilia, take in the artwork, and enjoy a creamy pint of Guinness.

Behind the scenes

Hen’s Teeth creates contemporary cultural experiences from their home on Blackpitts in Dublin 8. Fatti Burke is an illustrator from Co. Waterford, Ireland. She has worked in illustration and design since graduating from the National College of Art and Design in 2012.

In speaking about the installation, Fatti says she “wanted to create a place of surreal familiarity on the walls of The Snug, covered in graphic artwork and nostalgic ephemera. There’s a shared longing for warm nights in the pub with your favourite people, and I took this longing along for a cheeky ride.”

The gallery allows visitors in pairs, to allow for social distancing. You and a friend can enjoy the artwork, a pint, and the warm glow of Irish pub nostalgia. Plus, Hen’s Teeth also has a store and a café, so when you’re finished you can continue your cultural journey!
