Ireland’s largest music and arts festival, taking place at Stradbally, Co Laois, from Friday 2 to Sunday 4 September, Electric Picnic 2022 is set to be the most jam-packed event of the year. With headlining acts such as Dermot Kennedy, Picture This and Snow Patrol, the festival is the perfect way to say goodbye to our first summer of freedom after two difficult years of lockdowns. Below, is a round-up of what’s in store for this year’s picnickers.

Fish Town

Originally ‘The Jerry Fish Electric Sideshow’, creator Jerry Fish has expanded his fun-filled arena show. Fish Town is a carnival town inspired by folklore, circus and amazing music. Picnickers will be treated to pop-up stages, a café, and The Heart & Anchor bar. See circus, cabaret, burlesque and sideshow performers, as well as some amazing music artists. Visitors will get the backstage experience in the woods out in front of the tent, a place where artists, fans and friends can meet up, and talk about their Picnic adventures and experiences.

Trailer Park

Trailer Park is full of re-constructed vehicles that have undergone make-overs to become a haven of bright colours and wacky ideas. Expect belly laughs, uplifting music, and some of the most ridiculous installations you won’t find anywhere else. Some of these include, Nun of That, Come to your Census, The Vaniel O’Donnell Experience, Escape the movies, and many more.

Schweppes live music and summer cocktails

Festival goers can pop down to the Schweppes Ultimate Mixer Stage for music from Toshín, Claire Beck, and 45 Live among others throughout the weekend. Mixologists will be serving up cocktails, including the new Pink Spritz, made with Schweppes Pink Soda Water, classic G&Ts, Spiced Gingers and a Passionfruit Fizz. A non-alcoholic G&T will also be available. The Schweppes area at Electric Picnic is the perfect spot to unwind with friends and soak up the atmosphere between headliners.

Theatre

For the drama kings and queens, the brand-new Theatre at this year’s Electric Picnic has a line-up of talent for the ultimate appreciation of the arts. Ballet Ireland will blow your mind as they step away from the pirouettes in favour of rock ‘n’ roll. The award-winning smash-hit opera from The Belfast Ensemble, ‘Abomination’ that has gone down in Irish-queer history will take to the stage to wow once again. Xnthony: The Big Gay Ball will light up the Stradbally woods with an unmissable drag show, as well as many other incredible acts.

Little Picnic

This is a space within the festival that has been designed with families in mind. Colourful and full of life, Little Picnic is a kids haven. Jam-packed with activities from face painting to a sports day, there will be no shortage of laughter throughout the weekend. Other events within Little Picnic include, an unmissable show from The Gaiety School of Acting, a showcase of Junk Couture designs, a sensory play area, remote control robots from the Munster Technological University, and much more.

Sculpted by Aimee Studio

The official beauty partner for the 2022 festival, Sculpted by Aimee will be set up in the Pink Moon campsite for the weekend. Open from 9am to 7pm each day, the studio means that beauty lovers can breathe a sigh of relief as the Irish makeup queen has supplied you with the ultimate Sculpted Electric Picnic Survival Kit (€40). The Sculpted team will be on hand to keep you looking and feeling your best throughout the festival weekend, as well as some exclusive offers, new product launches and exciting giveaways too. We hear that the new Sun Mist Spray (SPF50) is a festival must-have and will be available at the Sculpted Studio.
