Could your adorable pooch be crowned Puppy of the Year?

The search is on for Petmania’s Puppy of the Year 2023, which will see one lucky Irish pup winning the much-coveted accolade at a grand ‘furry’ finale ceremony

We all love our dogs and fully believe they could win every award going – the 500+ photos of them on our phones are testament to that – but have you ever thought of actually entering yours into a competition?

Petmania’s Puppy of the Year 2023 is coming into its 8th year and has become more popular than ever, with the 2022 competition seeing over 1700 entries from pets and their proud owners across Ireland.

The annual canine competition is open to puppies aged 12 months and under and entries are open from 4 – 24 September, with every single puppy entered receiving a free puppy pack.

What does your pup win?

The overall winner will receive a prize worth €1500, including a year’s supply of dog food from Beta, a 12 month grooming care plan with Petmania, a two-night staycation in a dog-friendly hotel courtesy of Blue Book, as well as a professional photoshoot and a brand ambassador contract.

The winning pup will be chosen based on a combination of their adorable personality, coat and appearance, obedience and any special talents, while the initial rounds of the competition will see communities and customers voting for their favourite puppy proceed to the final stages.

Speaking about the launch of the Puppy of the Year competition, Petmania’s spokesperson, Emily Miller, says: “This competition is more than just a contest, it’s a celebration of dogs, the much-loved animals that give us so much comfort and joy and companionship, and often even more than that. We are really looking forward to celebrating our 8th year of this competition and want to wish all our pet customers the best of luck.”
