Singer Loah has put an Eva Gore Booth poem from the 1920s to music. The Body To The Soul is out now, but is part of an EP which sees Loah transform poetry by inspiring women into songs. Stream The Body To The Soul here.

Booth was a poet and activist born at Lissadell House in Sligo, and was the younger sister of Constance Gore-Booth, later known as the Countess Markievicz.

Discover new voices

Dedalus Press’ New Irish poetry anthology, featuring poets from elsewhere living in Ireland, cemented a growing community. This event will be hosted by Chandrika Narayanan-Mohan, who was featured in the anthology, and will also feature Grace Wilentz (The Limit of Light) and Polina Cosgrove (My Name Is), in a celebration of Irish poets whose roots lie elsewhere. Book here.

New Irish collections

Elsewhere, tonight the West Cork Literary Festival presents  a Zoom webinar entitled Unlaunched: Martina Evans, Victoria Kennefick and Aoife Lyall. The Unlaunched Books podcast was set up in 2020 by Séan Hewitt, Victoria Kennefick and John McAuliffe to publicise new poetry collections that were missing out on launches due to lockdown. WCLF are delighted to host a special video edition of the podcast to mark the publication of new poetry collections by Martina Evans, Victoria Kennefick, and Aoife Lyall. Tickets for the Zoom cost €5 and can be booked at westcorkmusic.ie.
