Whether you’re into true crime, comedy or stylish drama, we’ve got something here we think you’re going to enjoy
Prime Video: One Night in Idaho
“In November 2022, the small town of Moscow, Idaho was shaken by the senseless murders of four much-loved college students: Kaylee Goncalves, Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle and Madison Mogen. This four-part series on Amazon Prime is not your usual, exploitative true crime documentary; rather, it depicts the damage inflicted on the loved ones of these victims and the community at large by invasive internet sleuths, and how they treated this tragedy as click-worthy content. What I liked most about this series was how it shifted the focus from the perpetrator of this heinous crime to Kaylee, Ethan, Xana and Madison, with family members and friends celebrating their lives and sharing stories of their vibrant, fun-loving personalities. It’s compassionate, deeply moving and extremely powerful, with those affected most reclaiming the narrative from the noise surrounding this case over the past three years.” – Niamh, Deputy Editor
Channel 4: Taskmaster
“I was late to the Taskmaster party and only started watching old seasons of the Channel 4 hit last year. Some of those golden oldies are hard to beat – with comedians like Bob Mortimer, Joanne McNally, Aisling Bea and more taking part in the clever competitive show. So when I wasn’t overly familiar with the most recent line-up (season 19), which featured Fatiha El-Ghorri, Jason Mantzoukas, Mathew Baynton, Rosie Ramsey and Stevie Martin as contestants, I didn’t have high hopes. But thankfully, I was mistaken. Because as the format proves time and time again, the magic of this show is giving five funny people the exact same task, and watching them interpret it in their own hilarious way. I loved this season, available to stream in full from Channel 4 now, and highly recommend it for a good laugh.” – Klara, Editor
Netflix: Too Much
“If you are a fan of Megan Stalter from her supporting role in Hacks, you’ll likely love her starring role in Too Much – the highly anticipated Netflix series written, featuring and directed by Lena Dunham (of Girls fame). I find Stalter’s turn in Hacks entertaining but borderline annoying so it took me a few episodes to fully get into this show. However, now that I am, I’m enjoying it! It’s not ground-breaking but it is fun – think Emily in Paris meets Bridget Jones’ Diary, but with lots more sex, swearing and drug-taking than either of those. Fans of The White Lotus S2 will be delighted to see Will Sharpe as the male lead and his laid-back vibe provides the perfect foil for Stalter’s chaotic energy. Dunham’s writing is rammed with funny one-liners and observations and the cast is unreal – Rita Wilson, Richard E. Grant, Naomi Watts, Andrew Scott, Rhea Pearlman and Emily Ratajkowski are just some of the amazing cameos that have appeared already, and I’m only on Episode 6!” – Claire, Digital Journalist
Apple TV+: The Bear S4
“I can miss anything but not the newest season of the award-winning series, The Bear. It’s captivating, infusing, and warm like a hug to see the characters grow with every season. The story builds up to Carmy admitting his flaws, Sydney’s double thoughts on her decision, and my favourite, Richie’s crossroads in life. I couldn’t help but be awed at the cute little “love you-s” by the characters amid their heated and intense exchanges. It’s messy, human, and completely unforgettable.” Annu, Intern
NOW TV: And Just Like That S3
“Season 3 of And Just Like That continues to baffle me. The acting feels overly forced and so disconnected from the original Sex and the City cool girl charm. Carrie’s renewed relationship with Aidan is particularly strange. What once felt like a passionate love now seems more like she is just settling for the comfort of what she once knew. Despite the weak plots and sometimes awkward scenes, the fashion remains absolutely captivating. Carrie, Charlotte, and even Miranda are styled to perfection. But it is Seema who brings that luxury to the show I feel. Each look is extremely OTT which I absolutely love. Carrie’s oversized hats, sky scraper heels and even that metallic dress in the final episode are all so out there. But to me, her whacky sense of mis-matched vintage, couture and quirky looks are exactly what feed my sartorial soul! Who else could pull this off, only Carrie Bradshaw.” – Megan, Journalist
