If you’re looking for feel-good telly picks, you’ve come to the right place
Clarkson’s Farm – Prime Video
“I started Clarkson’s Farm recently, as my husband and I just needed something soothing and light-hearted to watch. The show has been around since 2021, and there’s a fourth season landing on Prime Video in May, which goes to show just how popular it is. A few episodes in, I can see the appeal. Jeremy Clarkson, of former Top Gear fame, has returned to his 1,000-acre farm in the Cotswolds to farm it himself, without the first clue about crops, sheep or anything farm-related. It’s equal parts funny and fascinating as he gets to grips with planting seed, herding sheep and the unpredictable weather. And the whole thing is underpinned with a really wholesome note, as we watch Jeremy’s passion and appreciation for the land, the animals and the work of farming grow.” – Klara, Editor
Colin From Accounts – RTÉ Player
“I didn’t know much about this show when I started it but I was very pleasantly surprised! The Australian comedy centres around Ashley and Gordon, two singletons who are brought together by a car accident and an injured dog, and end up falling in love amidst the chaos. Starring Patrick Brammall and Harriet Dyer, it’s very charming and funny but surprisingly edgy and even a little dark in places. There is a strong supporting cast that gets plenty of air time and helps round out the lives of the main characters. To be honest, the titular character aka. the dog, is the one who actually gets the least amount of screen time! There are two seasons available to watch right now and Season 3 has just been commissioned so you have plenty of time to catch up.” – Claire, Digital Journalist
Sort Your Life Out – with Stacey Solomon – BBC1
“Some people say she is like Marmite but for me I definitely love Stacey Solomon. Her infectious positivity and can-do attitude as a busy mom of five to her ‘pickles’ is inspiring! It’s why I have been watching old and new seasons of Sort your life out with Stacey Solomon a show that helps overwhelmed families sort the ‘clutter’ that has been taking over their homes and lives. As someone who has recently been doing my own decluttering, I am loving all the space saving tips and décor ideas and seeing the families lives transformed is the emotional feel good factor I need right now amongst the noise of the world.” – Ariana, Sales Manager
The Studio – Apple TV+
“The Studio is Apple TV+’s latest creation, offering a satirical look at the inner workings of Hollywood. Seth Rogen plays Matt Remick, the newly appointed head of Continental Studios — once legendary in the business, it’s now teetering on the edge of irrelevance. Stuck between his romanticised idea of timeless cinema and the commercial pressure plied onto him, Matt is navigating a minefield of chaos, egos, and corporate greed. Luckily for us, it is absolute gold to watch. Hilarious and sharp, I’m still chuckling to myself when I think of the scenes with Martin Scorsese in episode one. Also starring Catherine O’Hara, Kathryn Hahn and Bryan Cranston, new episodes drop weekly.” – Niamh, Deputy Editor
Rewatch recommendation – Frasier
“Whether it’s because I’ve had a tough week, a bad day, or simply can’t find anything else I want to watch, an episode of Frasier is always a guaranteed mood-booster. Hilarious sibling rivalry, witty wordplay (see above), funny family dynamics, relatable romantic woes and superb acting are all part of this endlessly watchable show that I never seem to tire of. The chemistry between all the actors, but most notably between Kelsey Grammar and David Hyde Pierce as brothers Frasier and Niles Crane, is truly like lightning in a bottle and perhaps the reason I never watched the series reboot that began in 2023 and lasted for two seasons. (The third season is reportedly being shopped around to various networks.)
The fact that the original series is already a spin-off (of Cheers) makes its enormous success already surprising and I am so grateful for 11 seasons of practically perfect comedy that I know is always there when I need it.” – Claire, Digital Journalist
