This sustainably-made baby grow is supporting a brilliant cause

To mark Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Irish children’s wear brand Lil & Izzy has launched a limited edition baby grow

Sustainable kids’ clothes label Lil & Izzy has launched the limited edition Hero zip baby grow, with all profits going to children’s charity, The Gavin Glynn Foundation.

The baby grow (€35) was designed in collaboration with Pickled Pom Pom, and is a nod to David Bowie’s song We Can Be Heroes, featuring an abstract print of teddy bear faces with hero eye masks.

All profits from the baby grow will go to the charity, which helps to support families of children who need to travel abroad for cancer treatment.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and Lil & Izzy‘s founder Katie Brandon Byrne wanted to give back to The Gavin Glynn Foundation since becoming aware of their work.

Her friend Zoe has a one-year-old daughter Georgia who was to fly to the USA for life-saving cancer treatment but on the day they were due to travel all flights to the USA were cancelled due to Covid-19.

“It was devastating news, as a mother, I can’t even imagine having to go through that,” Katie says.

“The Gavin Glynn Foundation saved her, they helped get Georgia to Great Ormond Street Hospital in the UK, they organised all the transport, accommodation – everything. Georgia is now home & recovering well, looking forward to a bright future ahead of her. She is the face of our campaign, smiling and full of life.”

The baby grow

As well as a fun design, the baby grow is made from fine organic cotton and elastane for a little stretch, it is butter soft, breathable and delicate against the most sensitive skin.  The diagonal two way zip function makes nappy changing super easy and less stressful – in under 90 seconds.

The design also features fold over feet, allowing baby to stretch and grow comfortably, as well as extended wear and longevity. This feature in particular is helpful for babies when in a carrier or sling, allowing room for a natural squat position where toes are not restricted.
