The Irish Film & Television Academy Awards celebrates Irish screen talent annually, and the 2026 list has been released.
If you’re stuck for something to watch this week, we have just the place to find some inspiration as the 2026 Irish Film & Television Academy Awards have landed.
The nominations recognise Irish talent in both film and drama across 29 categories. However, there are some standout pieces as Christy, the coming-of-age drama set in cork received the most nominations with 14 nominations including Best Film, acting and directing. Saipan the movie based on the 2002 FIFA World Cup where Irish captain Roy Keane forfeits his place in the squad after a heated argument with the Irish manager, Mick McCarthy. The film has 12 nominations.
Other works to note are comedy drama film Blue Moon with eight nominations and Four Mothers following behind with seven.
Running since 2003, this year marks the 23rd year of the awards. Áine Moriarty, CEO – Irish Film and Television Academy shared her pride of the event and the Irish talent showcased at it:
“What a superb lineup of Nominees this year shortlisted for Irish Academy Awards. This incredible showcase of work reinforces the fact that Irish talent is truly amongst the best in the world, working both in front and behind the camera across the globe.”
The awards ceremony will take place on Friday, 20 February at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre, by comedian, and actor Kevin McGahern. Alongside the winners on the night, we’ll also see actor Ciarán Hinds receive the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to cinema and television.
