The nation’s love of gardening has never been stronger, and who better to reflect on the wonders of of the garden than our very own, Lily Champ
Sadly, due to Covid-19 restrictions, Bloom isn’t happening this June bank holiday weekend. One of the best festivals of the year, Bord Bia’s annual gardening event has come to be loved by so many all over Ireland, from expert gardeners to enthusiastic beginners. Here at Irish Country Magazine, we were looking forward to our sixth year at Bloom, meeting readers new and old. One person who always brightens our tent at Bloom is our long-standing gardening columnist Lily Champ, whose magnificent garden in County Laois has brightened the pages of the magazine for over 8 years.
A few years ago, ahead of Bloom, Bord Bia visited Lily’s home as part of a series called The Hardy Perennials. The video by Jack Caffrey captures her passion for gardening beautifully. “If I didn’t have the garden, I don’t know what I’d do,” says Lily.
