Irish design: Susannagh Grogan’s empowering new collection

Scarf designer Susannagh Grogan’s new collection features powerful Irish words on bright and bold designs

Designer Susannagh Grogan has released a stunning new collection of scarves. Known for her bright colours and bold designs, the Empowerment Collection is a different direction for the Wexford native. Featuring Irish and English words, Susannagh says the scarves have been designed as “a talisman, a token of affection, a gift to others or yourself – to someone who needs to be reminded how loved, strong, brave, extraordinary or empowered they are”.

The collection was originally due to launch into stores in Ireland and the USA in March, but unfortunately the Covid-19 restrictions put a stop to that. “I was unsure about whether to launch my Empowerment Collection, but the work was done so I have decided to,” Susannagh says. “And while I don’t expect sales currently, it might bring some visual joy to someone somewhere. ”

The Irish words included are Curúil (brave), Grá (love), Láidir (strong), Duine ar leith (individual), and Éifeachtach (powerful). The scarves are 100% silk and cost €65. The can be ordered exclusively from Susannagh’s website, susannaghgrogan.com. All Susannagh Grogan designs are created by her in her Dublin studio, and she partners with a small family-run print business in Como, Italy for the printed scarves.

If you’re looking for something special for a loved one at the moment, we think one of these beautiful scarves would make a beautiful gift. All scarves come gift wrapped with a little card explaining the meaning behind each word. Susannagh’s Spring/Summer ’20 collection is also available from brownthomas.com.
