Here at Irish Country Magazine, we love to support anything that is Irish-made because we know that Ireland is home to some of the most creative people in the world. So what’s better then decorating your home with beautiful art? For us, it’s decorating it with Irish art.

Whether you want to update your home or gift someone with a beautiful piece of art for theirs, we’ve found four artists that we think you definitely need to know about.

1. Audrey Hamilton Art

Combining her love of art and animals, Dublin-based artist Audrey Hamilton is definitely a rising star. Having lived in LA for several years, Audrey took up the paintbrush and started to create some amazing pieces. Now living back in Dublin, Audrey’s art has become a great success. The animal inspired pieces would add interest and colour to just about any room in your house. With most pieces starting at €55, they are really affordable and also the perfect gift to get someone who is moving into a new house. To see her collection, check out her website.

2. Jill and Gill

Jill and Gill’s is one of the most exciting Irish brands, turning heads at home and abroad. Not only do they do print work like the gorgeous Friday A3 image above, they also have a really cool apparel store. Their designs have been featured in the Brown Thomas store window on Grafton Street as well as in various galleries’ and exhibitions. Their art pieces would look amazing in a bedroom or living room as a feature piece. Check out the rest of Jill and Gill’s work here.

3. Jando

Irish Made Awards 2017 winner, JANDO, creates prints that combine a love of architecture with a pop culture sensibility. Their playful use of colour and work using iconic Irish landmarks make for a striking gift or they work beautifully as a feature print in your home. We love the Bull Island print, pictured above, or the Baltimore Beacon image would make a lovely gift for a West Cork native. Set up by husband and wife duo Julie and Owen Mc Loughlin, their printmaking studio is based in Dublin and their designs can be bought on their website as well as in Arnotts and Kilkenny Shop.

4. Laura Callaghan Illustration

Having illustrated for Adidas, Nike and Samsung, Irish artist Laura Callaghan is most definitely making her mark. Laura moved to London to do a MA in Illustration at Kingston University after graduating from a Visual Communications degree in Dublin. She has since worked with so many amazing brands and featured her work in galleries’ in the UK. Laura’s work is one of a kind and it is hand drawn using a mixture of watercolour, Indian ink and isograph pen.
