Editor’s letter: Giving Oti Mabuse an Irish welcome and wedding guest dressing

Editor’s letter: Giving Oti Mabuse an Irish welcome and wedding guest dressing

Irish Country Magazine Editor, Klara Heron, shares her favourite moments in the March|April 2026 issue, featuring Oti Mabuse on the cover, out now.

I love a good wedding. Getting dressed up in your fanciest attire to spend a day with family and friends celebrating love, and all you are required to do is eat, drink, dance and be merry. What’s not to like? What I am especially enjoying is the move towards weddings becoming more intimate, personalised affairs. More often, couples are choosing not to follow the traditional trajectory of a wedding day and reflect their own personalities in the nuptials; and as a result, guests are following suit.

Wedding guest dressing has become an opportunity to inject some fun and personality into your wardrobe. With more options, such as renting, available to us, these big days should be an excuse to play dress up and try something different. In her ‘guest edit’ on page 34, Fashion Journalist Megan Fox makes a case for going big on colour and shares some standout pieces, while in her editorial story (page 38), she shows us how romance and whimsy are the big trends for spring.

It’s not just style that’s getting bolder, but Ireland luckily has lots of great venues nowadays which offer alternative options for the big day. I also enjoyed Jo Linehan’s column about how the jewellery industry is becoming more sustainable, with many independent Irish brands leading the way when it comes to ethical accessories. There are great options here for brides and bridesmaids.

Weddings aside, we are also very excited to have the Dancing Queen herself grace the cover of the magazine. Fans of Strictly Come Dancing, like me, will understand just how excited I was to meet Oti Mabuse. One of the most popular professional dancers to ever come out of Strictly, she has been blowing us away with her considered judging and spectacular outfits on Ireland’s own Dancing With The Stars. As the series heats up, she sat down with me to chat about the reality of what goes on behind a show as big as this and all of the things she is enjoying about Ireland.

There is all of that and much more across this issue of Irish Country Magazine.  Find your nearest stockist here.
