Did you know just one in 20 branded pasta sauces sold in Ireland is an Irish pasta sauce?

“The Irish pasta sauce market is heavily influenced by international brands, but we want to see more people reaching for an Irish product when they find themselves in front of the shelf in supermarkets,” says Maxine Hyde, general manager at Ballymaloe Foods.

“Our pasta sauces are Irish-made with all-natural ingredients. We were named Ireland most recommended Pasta Sauce in a consumer research project meaning consumers who tried our pasta sauces are more likely to recommend them to a friend over all pasta sauce brands available in Ireland. Our entire range is gluten free and, with the exception of our Smoked Bacon pasta sauce, they are suitable for both vegetarians and vegans, so no matter what meal you have in mind we have something for everyone.”

Natural & Quality Ingredients

“Great taste and quality ingredients have always been important here at Ballymaloe Foods, these are two things we will never compromise on. The Ballymaloe Pasta Sauce range is inspired by the tastes of Italy but proudly made in Cork. We love to see consumers trying out our pasta sauces and enjoying flavour in every forkful.

“We use ingredients that home cooks would find in their cupboards and only use ingredients people can pronounce. Our sauces are cooked from scratch and in small batches in our kitchens using only top-quality ingredients to deliver big flavour to our customers.”

Our range includes:

  • Bolognese Sauce, a classic loved by most.
  • Hidden Veggies, which gives parents an easy way to get children to eat more of their five a day.
  • Spicy Tomato, for those who enjoy a bit of spice.
  • Italian Tomato, a classic taste of Italy with an Irish twist.
  • Smoked Bacon, with bacon from free-range rare-breed pigs from Ballymaloe House, giving the sauce a unique flavour.

Something for everyone

Ballymaloe Bolognese and Hidden Veggie Pasta sauces are available in 400g jars. Ballymaloe Smoked Bacon, Spicy Tomato and Italian Tomato are available in 400g and single serve 180g jars. With these two formats there is something for everyone. The 400g range is great for parents cooking for hungry kids or young adults making a meal for themselves and their housemates. The 180g stir in range is perfect for young professionals, students or hungry teenagers on the go who want a quick and easy meal but do not want to compromise on flavour.

“Previously we produced our 180g Pasta Sauce range in plastic pouches. As members of Origin Green, which is a sustainability programme developed by Bord Bia, Ballymaloe Foods are always striving to find new ways to be more sustainable. Therefore, we changed to glass jars for our 180g range. In doing so we reduced our soft plastic output by 1.3 tonnes, which is the equivalent of a blue whale.”

Family favourite

“We are aware that cooking for a family can be stressful and time consuming. With Ballymaloe Pasta Sauces we make it easier to create crowd pleasing dishes that the entire family will enjoy. We want to take away the guilt parents feel about cooking pasta by offering sauces packed full of natural ingredient and great flavour. Our sauces have everything you need to make a delicious and nutritious dish already in them, no need to chop garlic, onions, add in herbs and spices we have that covered.”

Innovation at its best

Ballymaloe Foods are constantly testing ingredients and blends to bring new and exciting Pasta Sauces to bring to the market. Yasmin Hyde, founder of Ballymaloe Foods is at the helm of these creations which come from a new innovative kitchen called ‘Yassy’s Lab’. Yasmin has years of experience creating new recipes which people love, such as Seville Orange Marmalade, Pickled Irish Beetroot and most recently a Mediterranean Veg Pasta Sauce. Creations from Yassy’s Lab can be found in supermarkets and local shops around Cork and will hopefully one day be available nationwide so more people can try them and love them.
