These are the hair tools the Irish Country Magazine team swears by

hair tools

There’s an abundance of hair tools on the market all promising different results but once you find the one that works for your hair type, it’s a gamechanger

Lanaiblo Showstopper – €109.99

“I’m not a huge fan of hair tools. I always seem to buy the wrong ones and my hair never plays fair. I think I was probably one of the only people in my friend group in the noughties who didn’t have a GHD! But one thing I always have is a good hairdryer. I have a lot of hair that takes an age to dry which is why I swear by the Lanaiblo Hairdryer. It’s fast, powerful and comes in lots of funky colours, mine even has my name emblazoned on it in hot pink. They have long leads too which make it handy for getting ready. I’ve used them for years and have never reported an issue.” – Ariana, Sales Manager

Beauty Works x Molly Mae Curl Kit – €73.45

Photo: Beauty Works

“Designed in collaboration with influencer Molly-Mae Hague, this hair tool is particularly well-loved for creating loose, textured, beachy waves that look effortless yet polished, which is what I love it most for. The waves created with this wand tend to last well throughout the day, and even a couple of days later. Especially if you prep your hair with a good texturizing spray and finish with a good hair spray like the Joico Flip Turn 10+ Volumizing Finishing Spray. The wand is so thing and easy to pack in your case or tote bag while travelling and it even comes with its own little zip bag, hair clips and a few other accessories to make your hair styling moments that bit easier.” – Megan, Journalist

Remington PROluxe Heated Hair Rollers – €64.99

Photo: Remington

“My hair is very fine and very straight so I am forever in search for a bit of volume – so much so that I recently chopped it all off into a chin-length bob! However, I love a long, curly style so for years I have sworn by heated rollers. I have very little patience (or flexibility, it seems) when it comes to tonging my hair with a curling iron so the heated rollers, while bulky and not very practical for travel, are excellent at ensuring I reach the whole head of hair. I also find that they hold the curl and volume for longer. I got my most recent set in Lidl a few years ago (similar to that pictured above) but there are lots on the market that will do a great job at various price points. Now that my hair is super short again, I have been reaching for my old, trusted Babyliss wand to do a couple of scattered waves but once there’s a bit of length in it again, I’ll be plugging in the rollers!” – Claire, Digital Journalist

Dyson Airwrap – €499.95 (Sale price)

“I am very attached to my Dyson Airwrap because it consistently does what I need it to do. When I use it after washing my hair, I get a bouncy, glossy blow dry that lasts days. If I don’t use it, I regret it because my hair gets greasy much faster. It took me a while to get used to, but once I found the best attachment for my hair and mastered the styling, I could have a fresh blow dry look in about 20 minutes. Which, for me, is worth the cost of €500, because that’s around 17 blow dries – so on cost-per-use it’s paid me back at this stage.” – Klara, Editor

Dyson Airstrait – €429.99 (Sale price)

“Unlike Klara, I don’t have the patience for the Airwrap. In fairness, I don’t have patience for most things. The Dyson Airstrait, though? It’s a total marvel for people like me, who just want the job done without any faff. I have thick, long hair, and it can be quite the task to dry it and style it, but this game-changing tool does both, fast. Designed, and used, like a slightly chunky hair straightener, it uses precisely controlled airflow and heat to smooth and straighten wet hair – meaning less heat damage for salon-sleek hair. I did wonder how I’d get in at my wet roots, but there’s a clever function to lock the arms together for rough drying. Also, as a Wexford gal, I’m very fond of the Strawberry Bronze shade, which is inspired by Dyson Farming; little known fact, it grows enough strawberries to fill 4.8million punnets each year! At €429 on dyson.ie, it’s definitely not cheap but it saves you valuable time, and eliminates the need for damaging heat plates.” – Niamh, Deputy Editor
