As one of the main hubs of the home, kitchens deserve time and attention to detail when being designed. However, with so many different styles and options out there, it can feel impossible to know where to begin.
Whether you’re looking for a clean and practical kitchen or one with a rustic feel, take a look at these Irish kitchens featured in Irish Country Magazine and get your creative juices flowing.
Teachers Ally and Wes Carter decided to breathe new life into a cottage for their family of five, resulting in their sophisticated self-build in Co Kilkenny featured in the March|April 2025 issue.

Their entire home has a hygge feel throughout the interior which also extends to the kitchen. Inspired by Scandinavian interiors, Ally and Wes’s kitchen has a mix of matte black surfaces and natural wood, striking the perfect balance between modern design and everyday comfort. “I love that Scandi, bold style. I like it combined with a modern/contemporary twist,” Ally tells us.
Here, the women behind A+TB Design Studio share the details on their Pembroke Project in Dublin city, featured in the September|October 2025 issue of Irish Country Magazine.

The result of this project is a sumptuous blend of rich tones, daring details and romantic flair. The kitchen blends classic craftsmanship with a moody, contemporary edge, making it the perfect spot to cook and gather. The mix of materials – stone, wood, metal and textiles adds depth and warmth, making the room feel timeless.
Artist Thenia Hennessy shows us around Hennessy Farmhouse in rural Tipperary in the November 2025 issue of Irish Country Magazine.

In Thenia’s kitchen, farm life meets function and style. Bright and airy, the kitchen combines classic white cabinetry with warm brass accents and natural textures. The oversized island anchors the space, while woven bar stools and soft wood flooring bring warmth and balance to the crisp backdrop.
In the January|February 2026 issue of Irish Country Magazine, Rachel O’Connor opened the door to her 250-year-old Eden Hall Estate in Co Kilkenny.

With an entire house full of character, Rachel tells us: “I like a collected-over-time feel and style that feels inherited and is quietly evolving.” Charming, warm and whimsical, this kitchen combines complimentary colours like soft green and pink and brings in playful elements that’s a joy for the senses with vegetable print wallpaper.
