Style steal: Angela Scanlon’s ‘Wednesday’ inspired look

Angela Scanlon was giving serious Wednesday Adams vibes last night at the British Fashion Awards. Here is how to achieve her look

The Netflix Original series Wednesday has sparked the rebirth of goth glam. And yes, we’re talking 80-inspired, all-black, tulle skirt glam. Last night the British Fashion Awards took place in London. Popular figures such as Naomi Campbell and Florence Pugh hit the red carpet while Angela Scanlon was amongst the Irish in attendance, wearing what can only be described as pure Wednesday chic. Find out how to steal her style below.

Gingham shirt

To start off this iconic look, a gingham collared shirt was used as a base for layering. The actual shirt Angela wore is by Simone Rocha and is available to purchase on farfetch.com (€888). The same shirt is also available on mytheresa.com (€450).

For a more budget-friendly alternative, this New Look ruffle collar shirt in black gingham (€20.50) from ASOS is similar to Angela’s. (Make sure to button it all the way up to achieve that Wednesday Adams look.)

Tulle dress

The show-stopping sheer tulle dress with a love heart cut-out that Angela wore is also by Simone Rocha.

We found a similar gúna on thehut.com. This Stella Nova Tanya Sheer Organza Midi dress (€232.85) is a gothic princess’s dream and perfect to recreate Angela’s red carpet glam.

A not-so-sheer alternative is this Perri Tulle Mini Dress (€135) from allsaints.com.

Platform heels

For shoes, Angela wore a pair of platform mauve heels, keeping in line with her dark, gothic theme of the night. These Angelou Platform heels (€460) from Zalando are a similar fit.

Statement bag

Angela’s bag is a Micro Egg Perspex Shoulder Bag (€465) from Simone Rocha that is available to purchase on farfetch.com.

Jewellery

For jewellery, these Goddess Freshwater Baroque Pearl Charms (£55/€64 approx. each) from Angela’s own frkl.com and are the perfect finish to this gothic look.
