Kick back and relax with these great TV recommendations

Comedy, true crime, drama, sport – we’ve got all tastes covered in our latest roundup of great telly viewing

The Four Seasons – Netflix

“Six friends, three couples, four holidays, and one big breakup – that’s the gist of this much-talked about show now streaming on Netflix. I had heard mixed reactions about it so when I hit play, my expectations were relatively low. Maybe that’s why I enjoyed it so much! The script is tight, the jokes are funny, the observations are sharp and witty, and I thought the cast was great – although it pains me to say that I found Tina Fey a little annoying at times. If you’ve watched The Morning Show, you’ll know that this isn’t a big leap for Steve Carell who is relishing every minute of his ‘silver fox’ era but it was nice to see Will Forte play a more emotional role, while still getting some laughs along the way. If you are in a relationship, I highly recommend watching it with your partner – my husband and I identified with a different couple every episode which made it all the more entertaining!” – Claire, Digital Journalist

The Handmaid’s Tale, S6 – RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player

“The Handmaids Tale is back with a vengeance. We had to wait since way back in 2023 for the current season to hit our screens but the wait has been worth it. Elizabeth Moss is back playing June Osborne and she is ready to wage war against Gilead. It is a hard watch at times, especially with the frightening parallels being played out in real life across America, Palestine and Ukraine but it is undoubtedly gripping TV and a must watch for anyone interested in women’s issues around the world.” – Ariana, Sales Manager

The Road Trip – Paramount+ and NOW TV

“Based on the book by Beth O’Leary (a great holiday read if you’re looking), this six-episode show follows exes Addie and Dylan, as they’re forced together on an increasingly awkward road trip to a wedding in Spain. As the show flashes back to their relationship and breakup two years prior, we watch on in hope that these soulmates make their way back to each other. A fun romantic comedy that’s an easy watch.” – Klara, Editor

A Deadly American Marriage – Netflix

“New to Netflix is this powerful feature-length documentary, which tells the terrible story of Limerick man Jason Corbett, who was brutally killed by his American wife Molly Martens and her former FBI agent father, Tom. The pair were convicted of second-degree murder in 2017, but the convictions were quashed on appeal. They both pleaded no contest and guilty to the lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter in 2023 and were released from prison last year. The interviews with Jason’s sister Tracey, and especially with his children Jack and Sarah, will break your heart — but you’ll also find yourself inspired by their resilience, unity, and dignity. While the documentary is a gripping watch, it can also be a frustrating one, with lots of details left out; I recommend reading Tracey and Sarah’s book afterwards to get the full story.” – Niamh, Deputy Editor

The Sunday Game – RTÉ Player

“I am the first person to hold my hands up and say that I am not a massive GAA fan. That said, as a Kerry woman, I love a bit of All-Ireland drama and usually tune in for the last few weeks of the Senior Football Championship. However, after seeing highlights from last week’s incredibly tense provincial finals between Clare and Tipp, and Armagh and Donegal, (hurling and football, respectively) I’m starting to think I might get involved a bit earlier next year!” – Claire, Digital Journalist
