In the first months of Covid-19, cases of domestic violence increased by an average of 25% across the country. Alarmingly, according to a report by Safe Ireland, 3,450 women and 589 children contacted a domestic violence service for the first time seeking support and safety from abuse and coercive control during the first six months of Covid-19. That equates to 19 new women and three children seeking help every day.
