Time to explore: Five stunning Irish beaches to visit this summer

It’s the season to explore, to embrace the impossible and discover something new. You can do it all with Land Rover 75th Defender Limited Edition

Summer is here and as the warmer months open up before us, the possibilities are endless. There is so much to explore and discover across this beautiful island and Ireland’s coasts are nothing short of spectacular.

Here are five amazing Irish beaches to discover this summer:

  1. Keem Bay, Achill Island – Sitting at the western end of Achill Island, Keem Bay can be reached by road. Virtually uninhabited, except for a former coastguard station, the bay is book-ended by steep cliffs making it one of the most picturesque beaches in Ireland.
  2. Banna Strand, Co Kerry – Northwest of Tralee in Ballyheigue, Co Kerry, lies the beautiful stretch of Banna Beach. Perfect for a long, leisurely walk, it’s a hotspot in the summer thanks to its golden sand and swimmer-friendly tides.
  3. Morriscastle Beach, Co Wexford – Along Wexford’s ‘Golden Mile’, this beautiful beach is located near the picturesque village of Kilmuckridge. With lots of sand dunes, it’s ideal for families to spend a day out.
  4. Burrow Beach, Co Dublin – One of Dublin’s best kept secrets, this beautiful beach near Howth has spectacular views of Ireland’s Eye and the north County Dublin coast. There are some lovely lunch and coffee spots nearby, too.
  5. Goat Island, Co Waterford – A beautiful spot close to Ardmore, this is a perfect place for adventurous endeavours such as rock climbing when the tide is out.

Explore this summer with the new 75th Defender Limited Edition

The Land Rover Defender is made for exploring and as this year marks 75 years of the iconic car brand, it introduces Defender 75th Limited Edition. Finished in iconic Grasmere Green paint with complementing wheels and interior finishes, its chic style is matched only by its unique performance.

“Since revealing the new Defender, customers around the globe have fallen in love with it and demand remains extremely strong,” says Eddie Kavanagh, JLRI Managing Director.

“This new Limited Edition captures the spirit of the past 75 years, with its colour and detailing, and fuses it with innovative new technology such as Hybrid Electric power, Configurable Terrain Response, software over the air updates and unrivalled all-terrain capability.”

Special features

Innovative technology includes a 3D surround camera, configurable terrain response (ideal for off-road adventures), the Meridian sound system and a wireless device charger, to name just a handful of the high-tech features.

All 75th Limited Edition models also feature a folding fabric roof or the option of a Sliding Panoramic Roof, while superior comfort is provided by 14-way driver and passenger heated electric memory seats, heated steering wheel and internal climate control. An electrically deployable tow bar and all-season tyres can be added as options for enhanced capability.

Power up and go

Powertrain choices include the powerful and efficient P400e plug-in electric hybrid (PHEV) on 110 models, in addition to P400 and D300 Ingenium petrol and diesel options*, both utilising Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV) technology to optimise power delivery and fuel economy by harnessing energy normally lost under deceleration and braking.
