As springtime eases in, a hike in one of these scenic spots makes for a great daytime date

Luckily, Ireland is famously known for its rural beauty and this is why we have so many places to choose from. From Slieve Guillon in Co Armagh to Glendalough in Co Wicklow – no matter where you live, there is a special place for you and that special someone to step into. Here is our top picks….

Cuilcagh Legnabrocky Trail

Also known as the ‘Stairway to Heaven’. This trail is famous for its Instagram-worthy images and picturesque views. Based in Co Fermanagh, the trail has a one-mile boardwalk which rests on one of the largest blanket bogs in Northern Ireland. Recommended for both beginner and advance hikers, the hike would be a perfect day out for any loved up couple.

Diamond Hill

If you’re feeling up for a weekend challenge or you would class yourself as an advanced climber – this hike is for you. Located in Co Galway, Diamond Hill is one of Ireland’s most popular tourist attractions, and the name is very befitting if someone was inclined to pop an important question. The 4.5 mile hike would be more recommended to do on a sunny day as the scenery of Connemara is one not to be missed.

Achill Island

Everyone should experience the blissfulness of Achill Island at least once in their lives. One of Ireland’s national treasures in Co Mayo, it’s one for the bucket list if you haven’t done it yet. Filled with breathtaking views of the beautiful coast, sea cliffs, history and ancient tombs, there are great options for walking and hiking.

Glenariff Forest Park Trail

The six-mile trail through Co Armagh’s scenic woodland is an exciting adventure. It can be steep at times, and be sure to wear appropriate hiking gear. Once you have completed your journey, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the coast and if your lucky you can spot the golden coast of Scotland.

Torc Mountain

If you want to bring the kids along on your romantic adventure, Torc Mountain in Co Kerry is the perfect destination. The walkway filled with Irish history has enchanting views of Killarney, Muckross House and the MacGillicuddys Reeks.

Howth Cliff Walk

If you want an escape from the busy city of Dublin, Howth is your place to go. The walk on a bright day is a must-do. You are guaranteed a picturesque trek filled with seaside memories – follow it up with a visit to one of the cute coffee shops or restaurants in the village afterwards.
