Future Renew by No7 at Boots has been 15 years in the making, with a world-first peptide technology
Innovation is a word thrown around in the beauty industry, but when a new product range comes along with 15 years of scientific research behind it, we beauty lovers get truly excited. Which is exactly why, when we were given an exclusive preview of the No7 Future Renew Damage Reversal range of innovative products, we delved deep into the science to ensure our readers were as informed and inspired as we were.
The skin is an organ and, thanks to scientific research, we now know that things such as sun exposure, pollution, poor diet, smoking, lack of sleep, poor skincare habits and even stress, can all have long-term damaging effects on our skin. Fine lines and wrinkles, dryness, dullness and lagging skin – these all occur naturally with age, but can be seriously accelerated by these factors, some of which may have done damage long before we could intervene.
World-first peptide technology
Now, those visible signs of skin damage can be put into reverse, thanks to a brand-new innovation from No7 at Boots. Developed after 15 years of research into skin ageing and repair with the University of Manchester, the Future Renew Damage Reversal Range contains a world-first peptide technology that cannot be found in any other cosmetic product. Using a blend of peptides, the Future Renew Damage Reversal range supports skin’s natural self-repair process and reverses visible signs of skin damage. It is the biggest-ever scientific innovation from No7 in its 88-year history.
“It’s helping the skin to help itself,” explains Dr Ellie Bradley, one of the lead scientists who worked on Future Renew over the last 15 years. In partnership with the University of Manchester, Dr Ellie and her colleagues examined thousands of proteins and peptides naturally found in skin, to see which ones they could develop for this brand-new innovation.
“Peptides are really powerful,” Dr Ellie continues. “They’re used in lots of products, as they can ‘talk’ to cells in the body. There is a natural cell repair process that happens all over the body all of the time, and we said, ‘How can we harness this in the skin?’.
“We evaluated thousands of peptides and identified two that when blended together provided the most powerful for skin repair – a collagen derived peptide and an elastic fibre derived peptide. With products containing this blend we are supporting skin’s natural self-repair process.”
Led by science
The science doesn’t stop at the ingredients. The team also worked with robots to find the best delivery system and texture for these super ingredients to do their job. As a result, the new Future Renew Serum is designed to be “50% better at penetrating the skin than their current serums,” says Dr Ellie.
If damage has been done, now is the time to stop the regrets and deal with the effects. That’s in the past. This new range from No7 is all about gently renewing skin. It’s designed to slot easily into your skincare regime and proven to reverse visible signs of skin damage*. Hero product, the Future Renew Serum can address and reverse five visible signs of skin damage in four weeks, such as: poor hydration, dryness, uneven skin tone and texture, loss of firmness and elasticity, and fine lines and wrinkles**.
Tried and tested
No7 is known for trialling their products extensively before launching them, and Future Renew is no different. They conducted 37 studies on over 4,200 people with diverse skin colours and types, including two clinical trials with the Future Renew Damage Reversal Serum.
The results of the tests speak for themselves:
- *97% of women in the clinical studies found improvements in the appearance of multiple visible signs of skin damage, tested on 4,200 women
- It can reverse visible signs of skin damage in four weeks, including: the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, uneven tone and texture, dryness, and the loss of firmness*
For all skin types
No7’s new super-peptide blend is set to be one of the most effective and tolerated skincare ingredients on the cosmetic market. Unlike retinoic acid, which is known by dermatologists to cause tolerance challenges such as skin sensitivity and redness, No7’s new super peptide is both highly potent and highly tolerated, being suitable even for those with sensitive skin.
