Make the most of this weekend with a range of fun outings across the country

We can’t get enough of these stretchy days and bright evenings, that make the weekend even sweeter. It’s the perfect excuse to head out and about, whether that’s to a local museum, or for a woodland stroll.

Show and tell

Award-winning Irish printmakers JANDO have launched a brand-new studio and showroom at Dublin’s Chocolate Factory, which is open to the public with a fully-shoppable collection of JANDO prints and products. JANDO have been capturing iconic architecture with their signature pop-art style for the past number of years and have built an impressive following across the globe with more than 70 stockists worldwide and a global community of collectors.

The showroom is open to the public Monday-Friday 9am-4pm by appointment only and from June 2022, customers can also enjoy a ‘Showroom Open Day’ one day per month, where shoppers and collectors are free to pop in and meet the makers or pick up some JANDO goodies, exclusive to the showroom.

May fair lady

In Cork, Ballymaloe Grainstore’s May Fair kicks off on Friday, 20 May and runs until Sunday. There’s loads to see and do, from workshops, cookery demonstrations to garden tours and fitness classes. Plus over 100 stalls containing food, homeware and vintage fashion for adults and kids. The Fair, supported by Classic Hits Radio, follows on from the hugely popular winter craft fair. Tickets are €10 per person with children under 12 free, and available to book here or purchase at entrance. Walks, talks, tours, cookery and cocktail demonstrations are all included with your entry ticket.

Head to Kilkenny this weekend for yoga and brunch at Muse Coffee + Food, as part of their Summer Series. The café is located in the grounds of the city’s magnificent Butler Gallery and will play host to events all summer. On Sunday, 22 May, the series kicks off on the courtyard with hatha flow yoga followed by a nutritious and delicious two-course brunch for €30 per person. Spaces are limited to 20 people per session so those interested in attending are encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment. A ‘Yoga + Light Breakfast’ option is also available to book individually on the same dates for a lesser cost of €20.00 per person.

Chamber of secrets

The West Wicklow Chamber Music Festival returns to Russborough and St. Mary’s Church, Blessington from 18-22 May, with five days of music featuring brilliant international and Irish artists, and an exciting programme that includes a wide variety of music from Haydn to Charlotte Bray, three world premieres, and festival talks.

Fiachra Garvey performs on Friday, 20 May at 8pm

And on Sunday, from 10am to 2pm the Family Fun Day is ideal for the whole family. Venture through the Musical Maze, get into a groove at Percussion Workshops, celebrate the festival spirit with some face painting or see Mozart’s The Magic Flute as you have never experienced it before in a bite-sized musical romp. Presented in partnership with the NCH Learning & Participation Programme. Tickets for the weekend’s events cost €5-€38 (+ booking fee) and are now on sale here.
