Five reasons you don’t want to miss the new issue of Irish Country Magazine

Our Love Issue is out in shops now, and it is jam-packed with beautiful content

The March | April issue of Irish Country Magazine is an absolute beauty. Made with love, the Love Issue is full of stunning photoshoots, empowering interviews, inspiring ideas and engaging reads. Here are just five reasons why you’re going to want to pick up a copy…

Our incredible cover girl, Lyra

The Cork singer-songwriter shines bright in this dreamy shoot, and she opens up in a refreshingly honest chat with Klara Heron on body image, self-love and rebellion. Shot at Bond Street Studios, our team on the day were: Aaron J Hurley (photography); Megan Fox (styling, assisted by Laura Stevens), Sandra Gillen (makeup), Sian Sharkey (hair).

Wedding trends

Getting hitched? We have 12 cool trends for 2023, from mixed bridal parties to modern bridal looks. Leonie Cornelius shows us how to grow our own wedding bouquet, plus Santis O’Garro shares her top tips on saving money when it comes to weddings – for both the bride and groom, and the guests. Plus, if you are on the hunt for hen parties with a twist, we have plenty of ideas on taking a girls’ trip in Ireland.

Love in all its forms

We don’t just focus on romantic love. Anne Tiernan (above) shares an ode to siblings, while our parenting columnist Laurie Morrisey shares a beautiful love letter to the aunties in our lives, and the mothering role they play. Meanwhile, Maria Moynihan writes about self-love, and rediscovering the parts of her she lost when dealing with loss.

A new columnist

The hilarious, ever-relatable broadcaster Muireann O’Connell has taken up residence in the magazine with her new column Hear Me Out. Sharing her (often sometimes unpopular) observations on life, this month the TV presenter and podcaster talks getting engaged. To give you a taste of what to expect, here’s an excerpt:

The weekend he asked me to marry him was meant to be a romantic affair. I say “meant to be” because I invited my mother and every time he tried to get me alone – a romantic walk on the beach, a nice dinner, a walk up the mountains – I invited my mother. Move over Una Healy, there’s an even weirder throuple in town.

The Invisible Struggle

In this brand-new series, we’re shining a light on often overlooked health conditions that see women all over Ireland suffering in silence, with little to no support. With March being Endometriosis Awareness Month, Niamh Devereux’s first instalment dismantles a debilitating disease that affects an estimated 155,000 women in Ireland.
