The broadcaster chatted to Klara Heron about all things Dancing with the Stars; from how she was initially asked to be a contestant on the show, to her quiet confidence in how she knew she could get the job as co-host. Doireann opened up about entering her 30s, and how so far it’s her happiest era yet, especially having just purchased her own first-ever home. She tells Irish Country Magazine about the renovation plans for the house in Castleknock which she will live in with her dog Bertie, and how a female architect, also in her 30s, is helping to bring her vision to life. The 2FM radio star also revealed that it’s not just her career enjoying success – her love life is, too: “Romantic love wasn’t part of my plan for 2023 but as all the best lyricists and poets will tell you, you can’t plan for that kind of thing.”

Small house inspiration

We were invited into presenter Bláthnaid Treacy’s home in Stoneybatter, Dublin for an in-depth-look at her gorgeous renovation. Bláthnaid and her musician husband Charlie Moon transformed the house they’ve been living in for years – but just bought in 2020 – by knocking down walls and implementing smart hacks to make use of their limited space. The result is a quirky, cosy home, filled with art, colour and plush furniture.

The great escape

We bring you countless new ideas for your 2023 travels, whether it’s romantic stays in Ireland, going off-grid with new concept Slow Cabins, or the international destinations that everyone will be talking about this coming year, from Zakynthos, Greece to Izmir, Turkey.

Game-changing beauty

If you’re looking for ways to elevate your beauty routine in the new year, these pages are for you. Aisling Keenan outlines the beauty innovations that are changing the game, from tech devices to clever haircare, while we have all the details on new launches, including an Irish skincare brand making its products from foraged wild herbs and plants.

Meaningful stories

Leading transformation coach Niamh Ennis shares an extract from hew new book, where she admits how she became “addicted to sympathy” at one point in her life, and outlines how she became unstuck from that painful era. Niamh Devereux talks to Women’s Aid on its new campaign Too Into You, which aims to help young women from getting swept up in toxic relationships, and Ariana Dunne shares the experiences and lessons from a magical year spent travelling and working across Europe.

For all this and more, get your new issue today. Happy new year!
