How to wear it: Experts say magenta is the colour of 2023

Did you know that magenta is predicted to be the most popular colour of the year by experts? Below are ways you can add it to your wardrobe.

Colour experts at Pantone Colour Institute have predicted that magenta will be the trend colour of 2023. Vibrant and full of personality, magenta is a bold shade of pink that can add a stunning pop of colour to any outfit. Bright colours, though intimidating at first, are easier to wear than you might think. Below are some of our favourite magenta pieces for every occasion.

Day to day

From lunch with friends, to popping into the office – adding a pop of this year’s colour can be done with this cosy knit, made from pure merino wool.

Statement item

If you’re ready to make pink your personality, this Max&Co classic tailored coat is perfect for everyday and evening wear. You will certainly be easy to spot. This 100% wool coat is a bit of an investment at just over €400, so follow the ’30 wears’ rule (ie ask yourself do you have other items in your wardrobe to style this with so that you will wear it at least 30 times?) to ensure you get a good cost-per-wear return.

Dressed up

Magenta is the perfect colour to add a hint of fun to more sophisticated style choices. Full of personality, it can take an otherwise plain basic to something a little more exciting. This Forever New shift dress from Brown Thomas is a great example of that. This style is also on sale and available at brownthomas.com.

This Nulu Cropped Defined Jacket from Lululemon is a popular style from the retailer that can be worn multiple ways. Find it on lululemon.com.
