We love to celebrate talented Irish makers at Irish Country Magazine — any excuse to buy gorgeous bits for our homes! Of course we have a few favourites, so read on for more details on these wonderfully talented makers:

1. Rebecca Killen Ceramics

Established in 2014, Rebecca designs unique handmade bone china products for the home. A graduate of Belfast School of Art, Rebecca lives and works in Co Down.

2. Deborah Toner

Belfast-based designer Deborah Toner has a background in architecture and uses those drawing skills to create beautiful embroidered pieces for the home, all stitched on locally woven Irish linen.

3. Ballyshane Studio

William McHutcheon of Ballyshane Irish Wood Design creates handcrafted chopping boards from 100% sustainable and locally sourced Irish hardwoods. He is inspired by the rural surroundings of his Co Carlow home.

4. 29 Bride Street

Established by textile designers Liz Walsh and Monica Gleeson, their studio is located in the iconic Iveagh Trust buildings in Dublin’s city centre. Their textile products are designed, printed and finished in Dublin.

5. Chloë Dowds

Chloë creates tactile porcelain tableware using a soft contemporary colour palette. She works in Glendarragh Studios in Co Wicklow.

 

 

6. Miriam Fitzgerald Juskova

Originally from Slovakia, Miriam is a visual artist using techniques like paper quilling and paper on the edge to create 3-dimensional pieces.

7. Etain Hickey

Etain is a ceramic artist and owner or Rossmore Pottery gallery in Clonakilty in Cork. Her work features intricate and colourful designs on delicate ceramic.

8. Audrey Hamilton

Artist Audrey Hamilton’s style of painting is quirky and colourful. Mainly focusing her work on animals like this David Attenborough-inspired piece of a bee, all her originals are scanned and printed at The Copper House Gallery in Dublin.

9. Shady & the Lamp

Founded in Dublin in 2012, Sarah O’Dea makes beautiful decorative lampshades by hand. She has a background in interior styling and creates signature collections and bespoke lamps.
