This year’s ILFD opens with a one-off, exciting event bringing together two of Ireland’s most cherished novelists, Cecelia Ahern and Louise O’Neill. ILFD celebrates Irish and international writing, and runs at various venues in Dublin from 19-29 May.

Ahern is the author of 17 bestsellers. This includes PS I Love You, and Roar, which is now series on Apple TV+, starring Nicole Kidman, Cynthia Eruvo and Alison Brie. Her latest book Freckles tells the story of a young woman trying to make a connection in the midst of a lonely life.

Louise O’Neill’s first novel Only Ever Yours earned multiple awards, while her follow up Asking For It was widely celebrated for its examination of consent and adapted into a play. Her thriller novel After The Silence won Crime Novel of the Year at the 2020 Irish Book Awards. Her most recent work, Idol, examines influencer culture and the blurred boundaries between the online and offline worlds.

The authors shall discuss the vivid and authentic characters they’ve created. The talk takes place at Merrion Square Park at 8pm on Thursday, 19 May and will be chaired by broadcaster Louise McSharry.

We have two tickets to give away to the event. Enter below to be in with a chance to win. We will also be speaking to Louise O’Neill on Instagram Live, at lunchtime on Friday, 13 May. Be sure to tune in.
