Discover delicious natural ingredients in the wilds of West Cork and learn how to incorporate them into impressive cocktails during a fun weekend at the Celtic Ross Hotel in Rosscarbery.

The award-winning professional cocktail expert and bartender Scott Gemmell, known for his appearances on Come Dine With Me UK and the BBC Good Food show, will be coming to the West Cork hotel to launch their new Foraged Gin & Tonic Menu next weekend with a foraged cocktail masterclass. This highly unique hotel stay and masterclass will be a taste of what is to come in Spring/Summer 2020 at the Celtic Ross Hotel with Scott developing the Foraged Gin & Tonic Menu, in harmony with Celtic Ross top chefs and bartenders, using local produce. Scott will be joined by Sally Barnes of Woodcock Smokery in West Cork who will lead the forage based on Scott’s requirements, and she will be assisted by Michelen Star Chef,  Ahmet Dede, formerly of The Mews.

The weekend package in March is being developed to create an exceptional menu offering of local spirits and gins, sparkled with craft sodas and premium tonics, all paired with locally foraged fruit, herbs, citrus and garnishes from the West Cork terroir.

After Scott’s first visit to West Cork he knew it would not be his last.

“After my first visit to West Cork I knew it wouldn’t be the last. The whole region is a basket of delights unlike any other place I have been. It offers such a diverse and unique pool of coastal favours and I know this creative journey has just started,” he says.

“Neil and his hotel team are just incredible at the Celtic Ross, so we couldn’t let these ideas go and decided to try something completely new that would help connect the local landscape, alongside the food and drinks offering over spring and summer months. What you will be tasting in March will be the result of four month’s worth of planning, research and work in my drinks lab and also onsite in West Cork too over this period. We sincerely hope lots of people get along to sip and savour what we have in store.”

One lucky winner and a friend will win the chance to partake in the foraging event as well as a weekend stay at the Celtic Ross Hotel from 7-9 March.

T&Cs apply. Weekend stay is Friday to Sunday, 7-9 March, and the winner must be able to travel on those dates.
