Dubai boasts a year-round calendar of activities. Among the premier dates in the diary is Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, which takes place annually in February at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium in Garhoud, luring the biggest names in tennis. At other times, top entertainers perform at the Stadium including the likes of Sir Bob Geldof, Finbar Fury, Boyzone, The Pretenders, Paolo Nutini, Macy Gray, Simple Minds and Texas, to name just a few.
VISIT The Irish Village
Since its opening in October 1996, The Irish Village has always been looked upon as a small piece of Ireland in the heart of Dubai. Designed in the form of a typical Irish village street, its authenticity comes from the use of Irish materials, such as Liscannor stone, and the craftsmanship used in its construction, all of which have been imported from the Emerald Isle.
The Irish Village, both in Garhoud and in the Studio One Hotel at Dubai Studio City, has always been an anchor for the Irish community living in the UAE and specifically in Dubai. Since the opening of the first outlet in Garhoud 27 years ago, it has become one of the most successful bars and restaurants and has won several awards, including:
‘Pub of the Year’ from TimeOut Music and Nightlife Awards, BBC Good Food Middle East Awards for ‘Icon of Dubai’, What’s On Nightlife Awards for ‘Best Live Music Venue’, and ‘Irish Pub of the Year’ from The Irish Pubs Global Awards. In 2022, it was awarded ‘Best Pub Garden’ at the TimeOut Dubai Nightlife Awards.
Enjoy al fresco dining
The Century Village, part of the Irish Village complex, is a hive of al fresco dining and family outings. The tree-lined area adjacent to the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium features seven licensed restaurants, including Portuguese-themed Dagama, Italian cuisine at La Vigna, and at Soho Bar & Grill, discover an American steak house.
