The busy presenter has released a new skincare range for men just in time for the festive season
If you’re in the same boat as a lot of women and have no idea what to get your husband, son, father, partner, brother, nephew, etc. for Christmas, why not get them started on a good skincare routine?
They might not think of it themselves but if it’s in front of them in the bathroom, it might kickstart a very worthwhile habit.
Eavanna Breen, a leading skincare specialist, says: “Irish men are finally realising skincare isn’t just about appearance. It is more than just a routine; it’s an essential step towards feeling revitalised and confident every day.
“By investing in skin health, men aren’t just achieving a fresh, clean appearance; they’re building confidence and supporting their body’s well-being, showing up each day as the best version of themselves.”
With that in mind, we chatted to TV presenter and former Irish rugby star Tommy Bowe about his first range of products for the men’s skincare market.
Congratulations on Flow by Tommy Bowe. Tell us a bit about the collection
Thank you, it’s a collection of eau de toilettes, moisturisers and a shower gel. I know how hard it is to buy a present for men – I know this from some of the gifts I’ve received (not naming any names!) – but I thought it’s a great opportunity to produce a nice gift for men from an Irish brand, but at a brilliant price.
What is involved in releasing a fragrance range and why did you want to get involved?
It has been almost two years in the making. There has been a huge amount of research put into it, then lots of going back and forward with factories and laboratories to get the smells and textures just right. We knew from chatting to pharmacies and shops that there is a big opportunity for the right product so we wanted to do it right. Thing like designing and making the bottles takes a huge amount of attention but we are delighted with how they have finished up.
You’ve got a very early schedule with Ireland AM. Do you have a daily skincare routine?
Yes. The term ‘State of Flow’ is a sport and business term, where things are so routine they can happen without thinking and feel like they pass in an instant. I have my routine so precise every morning I sometime forget did it even happen! That’s what we hoped with these products, it would make your morning routine fly by.
Between shoes, clothing, fragrance and skincare, you’ve nearly got the whole Christmas gifting market covered! Is it tough to juggle all that with your day job and family life?
It really is a juggle, particularly on the run up to Christmas but I love to be busy and we have a great range of products. It gives me a real buzz to hear from shops and customers who have bought my stuff as presents for Christmas.
You’re also doing a podcast, The Offload, with your rugby pal Donncha O’Callaghan. How is that going?
The podcast is another thing keeping me busy but really it’s just an excuse to catch up with a mate. We could chat about rugby for hours so the hardest thing is to keep it short and snappy. The reaction has been amazing, I think people love the stories and Donncha has plenty of them!!
Do you prefer podcast presenting to TV presenting?
Live TV is hard to beat, it gives me the adrenaline rush that I miss from playing rugby. Every morning on Ireland AM we cover such a range of topics, it keeps me on my toes.
How will you be spending the Christmas holidays?
I’m working right up until Christmas, so I’m looking forward to a good chill on Christmas Day with my family. The kids’ excitement makes it so special!
Flow by Tommy Bowe is available in pharmacies nationwide.
