You may be keen to work on your mental wellbeing, but it can be difficult to find the time to attend weekly therapy sessions in a busy schedule. Carve out time for yourself, away from the stresses of everyday life, with a five-star weekend retreat at Carton House, hosted by psychologists at Perspectives Ireland, Dr Yvonne Barnes-Holmes and Dr Ciara McEnteggart.

Joined by yoga and meditation teacher Daniella Moyles and Natasha Vavasour of The STLL, the all-inclusive wellness retreat on 22-24 October is an opportunity to focus on your own mental and physical wellbeing as we head into autumn.

Dr Barnes-Holmes explains that often people come to them when they’re feeling overwhelmed by the stress and pressures of life.

“The last 18 months have turned a lot of routines upside down, and people have worked longer hours, taken less days off, and it’s starting to take its toll,” she says.

“Coming into autumn, there’s always a sense of resetting yourself and getting back into a routine after summer. If your cup is empty, how can you give anything to others? That cup needs to be refilled, and that’s why we’re hosting our first every retreat weekend, so you can take time out to invest in yourself.”

The Retreat

Dr McEnteggart explains that for those striving for personal growth and restoration, the weekend offers a powerful alternative to individual therapy, all while enjoying a tranquil getaway in the stunning surroundings of the newly refurbished Carton House.

The package includes a series of therapeutic wellness workshops and group therapy sessions, and optional morning and afternoon yoga and mindfulness sessions. After the wellness retreat you will have a deeper understanding of who you are as a person, acquired the tools to acknoweldge and respect yourself, and identified obstacles that have stopped you from reaching your full potential.

As well as working on yourself and your mental wellbeing, you will also have the chance to unwind and look after your body. You will get two restorative night’s sleep in a beautiful Fairmont guestroom, with access to all of the hotel’s wellness facilities such as the swimming pool, gym, sauna, tennis courts and bicycles. Over the course of your stay, you will enjoy a reception drink in the atmospheric Lady Granville Suite and sit down to a three course dinner in the Princess Grace suite.

Yoga and meditation teacher Daniella believes we all need to make a conscious effort to press pause as life starts to pick up pace after lockdown.

“It’s so important to take time for ourselves, especially as the world returns to a post-Covid normality,” Daniella says.

“Socialising, commitments and the commute to work is coming back and this can be overwhelming. Our luxury retreat is the perfect opportunity to take a breather and enjoy mindfulness, yoga and the luxury of Carton House.”

Each attendee will receive a gift pack worth over €200, including Daniella Moyles’ book Jump Start, 100% organic luxury products from Esmerelda Botanicals, and bestselling products from The Head Plan by Denise Kenny Byrne.
