Know an inspiring teacher? Here’s how to nominate them for a national award

Teachers Inspire 2022 is inviting people to nominate inspiring teachers across Ireland

We all know the importance of good teachers in our lives, and the significant, long-lasting impact they have. Well, now there’s a way to show the most dedicated teachers in the country how much they are appreciated.

Teachers Inspire 2022, organised and run by Dublin City University, is calling for nominations of inspiring teachers in Ireland and stories about the positive impact a teacher has made in their lives. The initiative, now in its third year, celebrates all teachers, and highlights how, in and out of the classroom, they can inspire imagination, creativity, confidence and courage.

Acclaimed author Louise O’Neill, who is curator and host of the Teachers Inspire Podcast, which you can listen to here, says the initiative to celebrate teachers and to recognise the transformative role they play in our lives and in our communities is a worthy one.

“It’s such an honour to be a part of Teachers Inspire,” Louise said. “I’m especially excited as I have had fascinating conversations about everything from Irish Sign Language and early education for children and the importance of prioritising mental health in the classroom. I’ve learned so much through recording this podcast and I hope the listeners will enjoy it as much as I have.”

Get your nominations in

Anyone can nominate a teacher who has made a difference in their lives by going to teachersinspire.ie and clicking on Share Your Story. Nominations close 20th January 2023. These stories will be curated and shared, with the four most inspiring being selected and celebrated at an event in DCU in February 2023.

So, if a teacher ever helped you overcome an obstacle, or inspired you to follow your dreams, if they helped change your outlook on something, or to navigate something challenging – Teachers Inspire wants to hear from you.
