Roisin Healy by Roisin Healy
August 12, 2019
A A

We’re stepping into autumn with our new issue, packed with comforting recipes, stunning new season fashion and lots of thought-provoking reads.

The brand new edition of Irish Country Magazine is here, and it’s jam-packed with great features on all our favourites – fashion, food, beauty, home, wellbeing & more! Here are the top things to enjoy this issue:

  1. Darina Allen reflects on an extraordinary career

Our iconic cover star Darina is synonymous with Irish food. She has long been an adored chef, and has used her profile to support and grow the industry at all levels. Our team did their best to keep up with her boundless energy for the cover shoot at beautiful Ballymaloe House, as Darina is not one to slow down. Klara Heron spoke with Darina about her dynamic career, her passion for the industry and what she plans to do next.

  1. New voices

We are so excited to introduce three new columnists to the pages of Irish Country Magazine. Galway stylist Orla Sheridan will be sharing her shopping philosophy in each issue to help you buy smarter and with longevity in mind. Applied Behaviour Analyst Kellie Billings shares her parenting tips, from a professional and personal perspective. And the wonderful Leonie Cornelius writes about creating magic in the garden.

  1. AW19 beauty

In the beauty pages, Aisling Keenan tackles the overwhelming skincare shelves to find out what an up-to-date basic skin routine should look like. We are also excited to reveal the results of the #MyIrishHair survey with Dyson. And in a stunning beauty shoot shot by Alex Hutchinson, makeup artist Kate O’Reilly shows some stunning ways to use the Chanel Fall-Winter 2019 collection.

  1. New season, new style

In Ruth O’Connor’s AW19 fashion report, learn how to wear the styles of the new season, from beautiful checks and dark florals to luxe leathers. Our fashion shoot embraces the most beautiful autumn pieces, styled by Sarah Rickard Lantry and photographed by Naomi Gaffey in the beautiful Hunting Brook Gardens.

  1. Inspiring women

While the rest of the world is only now cottoning on to the need to live more sustainably, we found women in Portumna who have been living that way for 25 years. Elsewhere, Wicklow County Council Independent and wheelchair user Miriam Murphy shares her inspiring outlook on life. In this issue’s Topic feature, Maria Moynihan interviews women who are embracing remarkable challenges at an age when the world expects them to start slowing down.

  1. Food, glorious food

Cover star Darina Allen shares three recipes from her new book that will feed a crowd. Advisor to Ireland’s top sports stars, Daniel Davey, shares three snack ideas for busy days. And Ciara Leahy interviews the owner of Little Ass Burrito, who is bringing authentic Mexican cuisine to Ireland and to shops near you soon.
