We’re taking a look at some brilliant products ideal for air travel so you can have all your must-have beauty items in one little clear bag
Depending on where you’re going on your holidays or for how long, you’ll have varying needs when it comes to the amount of liquids in your case. Checking in a bag isn’t always an option – and besides, who wants to be hanging around the airport carousel if they can avoid it?
With that in mind, it’s worth knowing how to pack your essential items so you’re never left in a panic as you approach the dreaded security line before reaching the nirvana that is Duty Free.
1. Make a list of what you actually need
If you’ve just washed your hair and are going away for a weekend, do you really need to bring shampoo and conditioner? Maybe you could buy a travel size dry shampoo in the airport or, if you’re staying in a hotel, use the miniatures provided.
2. Do an inventory of what you already own
Like shampoo and conditioner, large bottles of body lotion are also unnecessary. Have a hunt through your beauty drawer before you leave – you may find a few mini bottles from previous hotel stays. We all have them!
3. Be ruthless
You might like the idea of changing your look more times than a Selling Sunset cast member but that’s not entirely practical when you’re on holiday. A good palette will be your best friend while you’re away, or any multi-tasking product like a lip/cheek tint. The most important thing you can have is a good sunscreen. Remember, even if they have SPF in them, your beauty products do not provide enough sun protection on their own.
4. Be aware of different liquid limits in different airports
It was reported at the end of last year that the 100ml liquid limit and separation of electronics would be banned from most airports around the world by 2024. This process has already begun in Ireland, most notably in Shannon Airport, where passengers can carry liquids of any size within their hand luggage. However, unless you’re certain this is also the case for any connecting flights and the airport you’re flying home from, it’s best to pack with caution.
Here are some of our favourite products to bring on holidays for summer 2023:
Makeup
Whether you’re doing it for the ‘gram, your annual photobook or just because you like to feel glam on your hols, it’s natural to want to bring your favourite makeup items with you when you go away.
However, if you’re worried about losing, spilling or breaking anything, it’s worth thinking about travel size options that will see you through any trips you have this year. We’re loving these Sculpted by Aimee travel heroes – mini versions of the brand’s top-selling products including Second Skin foundation, Cloud Cream, HydraGlo serum and Body Base!
Skincare
Maintaining a good skincare routine is important for most people when they’re away. If you’re not prepared to decant your regulars into smaller bottles, why not use this time to try a new brand?
Popular Irish skincare company, Holos, sells travel (or sample) size versions of its products online. They last about a week, depending on usage, and are a great way to test drive a new product before investing in the full size container!
Sunscreen
We all know how important it is to wear sunscreen – even if you’re going somewhere that isn’t very sunny! Whatever your budget, make sure you pack one with a high SPF that’s easy to apply on the go.
P20 is a reliable, water-resistant brand that comes in a variety of textures and sizes to suit children and adults. They are available in chemists and supermarkets around the country and are often on sale or available with discounts.
Deodorant
Instead of buying mini spray or gel deodorants, why not take this opportunity to try out a solid deodorant? Not only will you be saving space, you’ll be doing your bit to help save the planet too! As it’s not considered a liquid, you can keep it in your handbag to use if you’re feeling a bit clammy after the flight.
Vico is a vegan and cruelty free natural deodorant, sustainably made in Ireland. It comes in three gorgeous scents – lavender, orange blossom and lemongrass – or you can opt for an unscented one!
