As you settle into the new year, now is the time to sort through your images from last year and create a beautiful photobook that will last a lifetime

Do you take a lot of photos on a daily basis? Are you constantly looking to free up storage space on your phone? Do you feel overwhelmed when you scroll through your photo gallery and see hundreds of unsorted images with dozens of replicates, knowing you will never get around to going through them?

If you answered yes to these questions, welcome to our club of jaded smartphone users who love to document the adorable actions of kids, family, pets etc but despair of ever sorting out those precious memories.

Thankfully, the professional help we so desperately need is now available. CEWE, Europe’s leading photo printing specialist, has partnered with Irish organisation experts, A Sorted Affair, to show how people can sort out the chaos of their photos and declutter their phones once and for all.

Founders Kim Fitzgerald and Lyn Luxford are renowned for whipping messy spaces into shape and are experts when it comes to digital photos. Here are their top five home and photo organising tips:

Start with a clear out

Get prepared when decluttering your home: label boxes with the following: Keep, Donate, Bin, and Maybe. Apply the same principle to your photo library, deleting unwanted photos and keeping only your best memories.

Set a timer for quick wins

Dedicate 15-30 minutes daily to declutter your home or digital life. After tidying up your space, use that time to go through your phone’s gallery and clear out duplicates, blurry photos, or irrelevant shots.

Sort by categories

Tackle decluttering by categories, like clothes, books, or kitchen gadgets. For photos, create albums or folders based on events or themes (e.g., ‘Family Holiday 2024’) to make it easier to find and enjoy your best moments.

Create a photobook

Turn your favourite photos into a photobook. This not only declutters your digital space but also preserves your memories in a beautiful, tangible form that you can cherish for years.

Make it a habit

Dedicate just 10 minutes after each event or holiday to sort, delete, and organise your photos. This small daily habit helps maintain a tidy gallery and saves time in the long run.

Keep your photos where you can see them without having to scroll through your phone
