Diffuse essential oils to create calm at home

Make your home a soothing and restorative space with an essential oil diffuser

Candles are lovely but when you’re home all day, and popping in and out to the garden, it is not advisable to leave them burning. To ensure your home has a soothing aroma throughout the day, try an essential oil diffuser. A diffuser works to effectively disperse the oil throughout the air in your space, to help you enjoy the wellness properties of your chosen essential oil.

Diffusers to try:

Jo Browne aroma diffuser

This aroma diffuser works with a cool mist so there is no heat damage to the essential oils. The aroma diffuser has an ionising effect on the air in your room, improving air quality because more negative ions are released into the air. The brand also has a range of essential oil blends, designed to promote overall wellbeing, lift the mood and relieve stress.

Kotanical stone diffuser

Kotanical’s stone diffuser is an ultrasonic diffuser that promises not to damage the essential oils as it works. Heat diffusers and evaporative diffusers (which use a fan) can interfere with the essential oil, but the ultrasonic diffuser produces mist without heat. The essential oil is broken down into microscopic particles that are diffused in a fine mist. The diffuser works at the touch of a button, with just a few drops of oil and water, and also contains a mood light. The stone finish will never discolour, whereas plastic may react to the essential oils over time. It runs on a consistent three-hour and intermittent 7.5 hour release. You can pre-order the white stone diffuser now for €59.99 (normally €89.99), for release at the end of May.

MAËL diffuser

This diffuser has a simple and modern design. It is straight forward, simply fill to the water level, add 5-10 drops of essential oil and close the lid. It will then disperse a fine scented mist throughout the room. MAËL diffusers can be set to operate for 1, 3, 6 hours or continuously and turns off automatically when the water container is empty.

Madebyzen diffuser

The Olly diffuser will really help to create a spa vibe in your home, with a bluetooth speaker and coloured light feature. Olly can also be set to rotate between the red and orange spectrum which can stimulate melatonin levels in order to help regulate sleep. Most importantly, it will also effectively release a humidifying scented mist.

Gather Ellia diffuser

The ceramic and wood design of this ultrasonic diffuser will fit seamlessly into any decor. It offers up to 10 hours of continuous run time, and also comes with a remote. It also features a colour-changing light, a library of relaxing and uplifting sounds, and an essential oil starter kit, with three samples.

This Works mini diffuser

If you’re usually someone who is on the go a lot, you can still enjoy the benefits of aromatherapy wherever you are with this portable option. It is powered by a fan that makes a gentle sound, diffusing essential oils into the air quietly. This might be a handy option for yoga or meditation teachers, or for someone who needs to travel for work.
