The Normal People actor will play Kya in the film adaptation, produced by Reese Witherspoon
The novel Where The Crawdads Sing is being adapted for the big screen, and Daisy Edgar-Jones shall play the reclusive Kya.
Fans of the novel will recall that lead character Kya is a lonely young girl, who has been abandoned by her family, and must learn to survive life in the marsh, the only home she has ever known.
As she gets to her mid-to-late teens, people start to notice this beautiful, intriguing young woman who has made a quiet life for herself in the marsh on the outskirts of a small American town.
But Kya learns the hard way that letting people into her life means risking losing everything all over again. When an ex-boyfriend of hers shows up dead, the townspeople are sure the mysterious marsh girl has something to do with it.
Daisy was catapulted to global stardom for her role as Marianne in Normal People, the BBC adaptation of the bestselling novel by Sally Rooney.
