Talented photographers in Ireland are creating photo series featuring neighbours and friends in their community, and the results are heartwarming

The current crisis has inspired a greater sense of community and Ireland’s creatives have done an amazing job of capturing that spirit. From the #CreativesAgainstCovid19 project to these beautiful photo series, it’s really amazing to see life in lockdown through their lens.

Here are the photographers to follow for images that will stop you in your tracks.

Ruth Medjber’s Grá sa Bhaile series

Photographer Ruth visited her friends within her 2km to create a beautiful collection of images, depicting families that are safe at home.

Each evening, I've been popping out with my camera at twilight.🌙 I visit neighbours and friends (new and old) and capture their lives at home during this unique moment in time. I'll post the whole series soon, or you can watch them all in a short video. https://t.co/Cttade5FWx pic.twitter.com/SneckxjNBe

Emilija Jefremova’s doorstep moments in Galway

Emilija’s beautiful series is a way of illustrating that life during lockdown isn’t all doom and gloom. With each portrait she shares a short story about how the person is doing something to bring some positivity to others. See all her self isolation portraits on her website, emjcamera.com.

#Selfisolationportraits Full album on www.emjcamera.com & Facebook EmJcamera . . Daniel was the subject of my first documentary in college 10 years ago, I filmed him leaving this door with the doughnut making machine on a trolley and then setting up at the Saturday Market on a very early and wet morning. Seeing how much work goes into the prep, made me appreciate his doughnuts even more. In the last few years a Saturday Doughnut became a big thing in our weekly routine, a ritual even. All the visiting guests, parents, friends have been brought to Daniel's stall and BoyChik bags were delivered to whoever we were visiting around Ireland, it was the biggest treat for people. It used to be stressful to be working outside Galway to miss it. Many creative photos were taken and rare selfies were allowed stuffing our faces with one with coco and one plain(Daniel always complains about my random orders every week) Once I'll see Daniels doughnut stand back at the Saturday Market, I will know that life is going back to normal and the ritual will continue. In the meantime, his neighbourhood is being extremely supportive and entertaining and I get to wave to Dan everytime cycling past. Also, will try to find that short doc sometime soon for a bit of laugh . . The purpose of this project is to show it’s not all doom and gloom during these life changing and uncertain times. I decided to take distant portraits of people outside their houses or wherever their self isolation is happening with the zoom lens that keeps me 10m away from the person. Im interested to see and hear what new hobbies or books or projects people took up in the last week. Social distancing is crucial right now, but I really hope we will all stay connected and close more than ever, sharing our stories and spending more time for ourselves. . . @emjcamera . . #galway #ireland #galwayireland #galwaycity #galwaybay #ireland_gram #thisisgalway #tourismgalway #visitgalway #galwayswestend #people #lensculture #portraitphotography #portrait #portraits #covid19 #home #door #photographer #photooftheday #boychik #galwaynow #doughnuts #urban #streetphotography #loveireland #puzzle #socialdistancing #composition

www.emjcamera.com Full album on FB page . I caught this charming man in the middle of his fishy bussiness on an early Saturday morning in his homely Galway’s Westend. Always rushing somewhere and full of lively energy, Ali will always find time to stop and have an uplifting and deep conversation which always leaves a big smile on my face. No surprise how he gets so many people Hooked on his always fresh and tasty fish at @alisfishmarket . . #Selfisolationportraits . Jack has shared a look at life in lockdown, gazing out into the street from his home and visiting his cocooning parents.

Visiting my folks for the last few days has been both a sobering and beautiful experience. The pane of glass protects them from me. I bring them essentials such as beetroot soup (thanks to @abaigeal_meek), the lotto, wine, and trinkets from their Grandson. We love them 💙 #FlattenTheCurve

Katie Kavanagh’s ‘doortraits’ of her neighbours

Katie’s beautiful doortraits project sees her visiting neighbours in the D8 area, to capture this moment in history.

I’ve started a series of Door Portraits in my neighbourhood #dublin8 to document people at home during the lockdown in aid of Purple House Cancer Support. DM to participate. pic.twitter.com/cVSKw4zqa6
