The new issue is out now, full of inspiring stories and ideas and lots of content to distract you from what is going on in the world right now
We are so excited to share this special issue of Irish Country Magazine with you. Just like most of our readers, the team has been working from home. We know how important it is to have some form of escape, and hopefully this issue will be perfect for your next moment of me-time. We have brilliant recipes, home interiors inspiration to give you ideas for your next project and lots of inspiring stories about Irish women. We also have lots of heart-warming and uplifting content, in particular, a wonderful interview with the one and only Vicky Phelan. The issue is now available in shops nationwide, or download the issue here.
1. Vicky Phelan
At a time when we’re all trying to find hope, one woman leading the way is Vicky Phelan. Currently self-isolating at home as she is considered high-risk, Vicky is using this time to aid the HSE in spreading information on Covid-19 to her many followers. In an interview with Klara Heron, she shares how she manages to find the light even in the darkest circumstances.
2. Look for the the helpers
Mairead Lavery reconnects with women who have featured in her Local Heroes series, to highlight how they are continuing to support the vulnerable in their communities at this time of crisis. In a feature called Play Our Part, we share a snapshot of what businesses and communities have been doing to help our frontline heroes and make a difference at this time. Hopefully readers will feel inspired to find ways that they can help too.
3. Back to basics
This month’s fashion features are all about the essentials. Ruth O’Connor looks at the myriad of denim styles to try and shares some tips on choosing sustainable brands to invest in. In a lovely interview with Irish designers, she highlights linen, an Irish-made luxurious fabric that is made to last a lifetime. In our shoot, we share utilitarian looks to inspire your summer wardrobe.
4. Food, glorious food
This issue is filled with glorious recipes for you to recreate at home. Gain BBQ confidence with celebrity chef Simon Rimmer’s brilliant tips. Embrace the homely flavours of quality Irish produce with recipes from Maura O’Connell Foley. And in this month’s producer feature, Janine Kennedy meets the duo creating laidback French cuisine in Kilkenny.
