The eagerly-anticipated second season of the pitch black comedy has been given a release date
If you’ve been waiting patiently for the last two years for the return of the Garvey sisters, you are about to be rewarded!
With a stellar cast, a razor-sharp script and a villain so repulsive that you actually couldn’t wait to see how he got his comeuppance, it’s no wonder that as soon as Bad Sisters aired in 2022, the public was immediately crying out for more.
Written by Sharon Horgan alongside Dave Finkel and Brett Baer, the story was adapted from a Belgian show Clan, created by Malin-Sarah Gozin, to suit an Irish family and showcase modern Dublin in a way it has never been filmed before.
In Season 1, the story revolves around the Garvey sisters – Sharon Horgan as Eva, Anne-Marie Duff as Grace, Eva Birthistle as Ursula, Sarah Greene as Bibi, and Eve Hewson as Becka – and the drama that unfolds when it becomes clear that the death of Grace’s abusive husband John Paul aka. ‘The Prick’ (Claes Bang) was not an accident. As two insurance brokers come to investigate the claim to prevent having to make a huge payout, it quickly becomes clear that each sister had a very good reason for wanting him dead.
The show was met with widespread acclaim which led to a string of award nominations and wins and, of course, the news that it would be renewed for a second season. However, Horgan had only ever intended it to be one season so where could the Garvey sisters go next?
Well, while there hasn’t been too much revealed about the plot yet, Apple has released the following teaser for it: “When past truths resurface, the ladies are thrust back into the spotlight, suspicions are at an all-time high, lies are told, secrets revealed, and the sisters are forced to work out who they can trust.”
The streamer has also shared a first-look image of the Garvey sisters back together and the announcement that the season 2 will premiere two episodes on 13 November, before releasing one episode a week until 25 Dec.
As well as the returning sisters, there will be a host of exciting new characters joining the cast for the second outing, featuring Fiona Shaw, Owen McDonnell, Thaddea Graham and Justine Mitchell, to name a few.
If you haven’t seen it yet (what have you been doing?), or just want to whet your appetite for November, here is the trailer for Season 1:
